So, the voice that you hear crying out during the tornado/house falling bit just before the scene change into the yellow brick road scene...
Who's voice is that crying out? Is that the original Nesa prerecorded, the current Nesa prerecorded or the current Nesa live? Or none of the above? It sounds very non descript. Just curious if anyone knows for sure.
(pretty sure I may have spelled her name wrong - sorry!)

I do believe it's a pre-recorded version of whomever the actress is.
It is a prerecorded voice of the current actress

Im not gonna lie, I think its a recording of the OBC Nessa that they use for every production. Becasue its just moaning, and its VERY faint, it truly doesnt matter who does it, because it would sound similar out of every nessa's voice, so im thinking its just the OBC. Ive seen the show in LA(tour with SJB), BWAY(with ana), TORONTO(tour with shoshana), and in LA(eden) and the moaning sounded the same every time... I can ask Jenna Leigh Green tho when i see wicked in LA again if you would like. PM me
It's def. not an updated recording...You mean the "dorthey" voice, right?
It's been the same everytime I've seen it for 2 years In NYC and the tour and Chicago casts....

Dorothy voice? That moaning voice you hear is Nessarose, I assume from under the house.
And I have heard the original and the latest on Broadway, and they sound different to me.

Hi William,
I've worked costumes for the Broadway and touring productions of WICKED. The voice that you hear are both pre-recorded for Nessa and Dorothy. Nessa is always rerecorded by the actor playing the part, and Dorothy has been voiced by several women over the years.

It really has to be the current Nesa. Equity would not allow that to happen. I work in regional theatre and we have to rerecord for every actor. Equity is kinda touchy that way - and rightly so.
So basically once the actor is hired to play the role, they go into a studio to lay down tracks like that or in the case of Rent, hop in front of the camera to get included in the final video sequence of the show? I'm totally fascinated by these little details and how it all works.
By George, WillyT's GOT IT!! I, too, am fascinated with the small details. That's why I'm a slave to my craft.
