Stephanie looks REALLY good in green! I might get crucified for this, but Shoshana looks terrible in the makeup, she's pretty without it on, but I just don't think she has the right bone structure or something to wear it and it makes her look chubby and homely. Idina was gorgeous both in and out of the green, but I think that Stephanie might actually look better in the makeup than out of it, from the thumbs she looks totally fierce.
He said she was pretty outside of green- chill out. Not everybody looks good in a different skin color, but it doesn't mean they're not beautiful. I, for one, find Shoshana stunning.
Dang...chill out. She was just making a statement. I agree that the green makes Stephanie look absolutely beautiful. She already is but it just really seems to fit her.
I just think it's SO obnoxious for this board to be constantly harping on the physical appearence of performers. With or without makeup. Get over it. Updated On: 3/30/05 at 05:58 PM
I think whatever shade of green they use for Shoshana is a bit too... bright? She kind of looks very lime green and almost fluorescent... at least in pictures.
I actually don't understand why people are so PROTECTIVE of the physical appearance of Broadway actors. Nobody would bat an eye about someone making a snide remark about the way, say a film actor looks.
Is this because we somehow feel more connected to the actors because we see them live on stage? I don't know, but I think the way an actor looks is fair game for discussion.
i mist say that stephanie and kendra look worlds better in these than that awful promo picture. Certain performers are going to take some getting used to for me looks wise (i.e. a younger looking wizard, a tall fiyero, and a short, thin morrible. But i still can't wait the entire YEAR before this gets to philly
"Grease," the fourth revival of the season, is the worst show in the history of theater and represents an unparalleled assault on Western civilization and its values. - Michael Reidel
Great to finally see what everyone looks like in makeup and costume. And I agree, it won't be long till these are posted in larger versions at the tour website. In the meantime, I'm just happy to see all of these!
i believe the larger versions are there too, just remove /thumbs part and youll see a bunch of .sit files, which is like the mac equivalent of .zip (file compression)
Michael- I know the witch isn't supposed to be pretty, I just think it's interesting to see how something as seemingly simple as skin color can change someone's looks completely. I also think it's a nice, though probably unintentional, statement that when you look at the situation through a different scope (i.e. one that's more sympathetic with Elphaba's story) you see everything differently, even whether or not she is ugly.
Chip- I knew someone would get their panties in a twist about that. Chill.
