Will Chase to Star in NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT During Matthew Broderick'

to have him join the show for just one week seems silly.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

of course the show has understudies... But the understudy will not sell tickets.

WILL CHASE will sell some tickets. Maybe not a huge boost, but you will see a rise in ticket sales, partly because of his status as a "name" in the industry, and partly because of his new found "stardom" from his stint on SMASH. That audience will surely buy tickets to see him in the role.

ESPECIALLY because of the strictly limited engagement.

Correct me if I'm wrong about this but since Will Chase is being announced as a vacation replacement and not an understudy/standby the producers therefore won't have to refund any tickets people may have accidentally bought assuming Broderick was still in it. He'll be in the playbill as the character and not a slip of paper or on the understudy board.

Nasty_khakis, I doubt the decision on vacation replacements is based on trying to skirt the audience's ability to get a refund. Perhaps people can't get refunds for a scheduled vacation no matter what - if tickets for those dates have always included the warning that Broderick or O'Hara will be out.

The current grosses are pretty good for this show. They grossed one ticket short of 800K in a week that Kelli O'Hara was not in. That's pretty good, imo.

also, having gone yesterday, I can tell you that Erin Dilly's name was above title in the Playbill, certainly reaffirming the notion that they are concerned about refunds. My guess is they will do the same with Chase. They have also just started a new marketing campaign replacing those dumb cartoon figures with Matthew and Kelli, something that will definitely boost some ticket sales. I don't think this show is going away, much to the displeasure of some on this board.
