It's a creative triumph, a cultural touchstone, and a landmark musical, in my view, that has changed the game. The most original thing i've seen in forever, this brilliance MUST come in to the big leagues, and win all the awards!!!! Let's hope a transfer is imminent."
Why does it have to come to Broadway to be a brilliant or even landmark show? There are plenty of shows that fit that description without ever seeing Broadway. Broadway is not the end-all be-all of theatre.
Because we all look at the Tony Awards as kinda being the guide to musical theatre history

So any show that doesn't win the Tony isn't part of musical theatre history? Oklahoma, Show Boat, Into the Woods, West Side Story, Chicago all aren't part of musical theatre history?
F that. Off-broadway should be a viable business model and outlet for theatre and not just a stepping stone for shows aimed for Broadway. I'm thankful for shows like Little Shop, Titanique, and Here We Are that are showing what it looks like.
If Here We Are transfers, it would most likely be shoved into a proscenium house that could not fit anything like the set it has at the Shed. The inevitable Here We Are Broadway Thread would be filled with people saying that it was better at the Shed.

Here's the real truth. The show absolutely COULD work in a Broadway theatre. Conceivably. There are broadway theatres that could absolutely host it and not lose any of the charm. It would be perfectly lovely at Lincoln Center even.
It's sadly the broadway audiences that wouldn't show up for it and keep it afloat cause they've been trained to buy tickets for the more conventional broadway musical.

Literally no one does that -- except you.
Then why do all those theatre books constantly talk about the awards? If it doesn’t mean anything for the history?

Of course it means "something" but you made it sound as if it means everything .. and if something isn't on Broadway and win all the awards, it doesn't count.
I never said it means everything. I used the word “kinda.” I personally think that the Tony Awards should open up to include off broadway at this point. There’s so much good work that once upon a time would have transferred, but that doesn’t seem to be happening nearly as often these days, specifically with plays.
i'm fine with this not moving to Broadway....... just give us an official cast recording already!

Not every show is required to transfer to Broadway. It is never required or guaranteed. Sometimes it's just as special to leave shows as they are. Get excited about other shows! There's so much that's coming. This does not need to transfer.

Still hoping it would transfer, it would benefit people from out of town, a limited run in the summer season is going to work perfectly.
I can only see it coming for a strictly limited run. It would be such a bummer to transfer and for the hype/demand to die down with an open run.

David Hyde Pierce in the Los Angeles Times:
"“First of all, we all love doing the show,” he said. “We love each other and are having the best time. But the way it was presented to me originally, when they first came to me, Joe [Mantello] said, ‘Look, we are not doing this to move it. We are not doing this as a commercial production. We’re doing this for Steve.’ And I think that’s how we all feel. I’m not a producer on this, so I’m not involved in any other discussions. But I guess I could say that if this ends up being it, it will have been worth it.”

Of course, being on Broadway doesn't have to mean it's commercial

I am aware you did not say this. But, right because no other shows on Broadway will benefit people from out of town. Way to completely ignore those shows. The incoming season(s) are going to be incredible. Its had a healthy off-Broadway run. Once again, a transfer/limited run would be nice, but also it will be fine if it does not happen
While I'm usually all for Off-Broadway shows making the jump to Broadway, I just don't feel like this calls for a transfer to Broadway. It is so exquisitely perfect at the Shed, and the fact that this show even happened at all is enough for me.

Broadway is the definition of commercial, regardless of the show's content.

I simply mean opportunity for people who never get a chance to make a trip to NY for this particular show.
