I'm torn between Wonderland and Soul Doctor. Wonderland went from okay in the first act to so bad in the second I grew to hate what I tolerated in the first, while Soul Doctor was just...words fail me.

Does anyone here remember the brilliant parody of THE ANARCHIST that our own Jordan Catalano wrote?
Dreadful play.
Brilliant parody.

My New York commenters, just be glad FIRST WIVES CLUB never made it to Broadway.
My vote is for AMAZING GRACE.

My worst would have to be the national tour of Dirty Dancing. It was just absolutely pointless.
I didn’t get to see Scandalous, but I love the cast album, mostly because it’s the closest thing we have to a Carolee Carmello solo album.

Was Off-Broadway, not on Broadway, but Clueless: The Musical. It was a hot mess through and through.

Worst play is easily The Anarchist.
Worst musical has to be Escape to Margaritaville.
I really don't like The Lightning Thief, but I think they're at least earnest in their efforts. It seems like the writers are trying to do something creative with a source material they care about. Escape to Margaritaville's only reason for existence was to sell overpriced margaritas at intermission to Parrotheads.

Of the few Broadway shows I have seen in the past decade, the worst one by far was "Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown," which is undoubtedly the lousiest musical David Yazbeck has written thus far. In my day, I used to see almost every major production each season. Now I can let years go by without even visiting New York City. It is either because there are no new shows that interest me or I can't afford the ticket prices. Producers please do something about this situation by reducing ticket prices for senior citizens on fixed incomes Make the rich people pay the high prices and the poorer people get automatic discounts. I only wish this would happen.

Paramour and Gary. Luckily both were comp'd, but I did have to spend the cost of a ticket at the bar just to make it through.

“The Encounter”. Simon McBurney
what the hell was that?

Aww. I quite enjoyed some of the shows being named here: Gary, The Play that Goes Wrong, The Encounter. Different strokes!
My pick comes down to a choice between a bafflingly bad revival and an execrable jukebox musical. The Cherry Orchard made me spend a few hours hating one of my favorite plays. Escape to Margaritaville aimed low...and still missed the target. For poor Lisa Howard being air lifted to and from cheeseburgers her fiancé doesn’t want her to eat because she is supposed to be dieting? Margaritaville is the show that made me actually feel pained for the cast. Worst of the decade. There’s my vote.

Wait--The Play That Goes Wrong is on here? ...in a serious manner?? Huh?
In all honesty, I saw Gettin' The Band Back Together twice and enjoyed it! Was it the greatest thing ever? No. Absolutely not. Was it just fun? Yes! We don't always need serious shows like Dear Evan Hansen, Hadestown, etc. It won't always be a hit, but it'll make people forget their problems and escape reality for a little bit.

Posted: 12/26/19 at 11:39amSince I have only been able to afford going to see shoes in my post college life, my vote for worst show that I’ve seen is Be More Chill. Beyond how the hype machine of my particular demographic making it sound like the show was real high quality, the White Tumblr™️isms of the show made it at times painful for me to watch. With that in mind I’m sure there’s been worse **** than that, I’m just lucky enough to have not seen it lol.

Some of these answers are just trolling now. Hamilton? Travesties? Ferryman? They might not be your thing but worst of the DECADE?

"Not my cup of tea" isn't interchangeable with "a non-quality piece of art."
I think Spring Awakening has a weak score and is somewhat gratuitous, but I understand why it resonated with many.

'Pretty Woman,' hands down. It offered nothing of value to the medium, the casting was not its finest, and was overall boring.

I noted The Ferryman, and I assure you that I was not "trolling" in doing so. I found it interminable and pointless. It was the longest 3-something hours of my theatre life, and I felt nothing but relief when it ended.
