I'm going to try to go to the show tonight with a friend who hasn't seen it yet.
We WILL have glow sticks if student tickets are available. I've never gotten a glowstick before! Errr.
Anyone think the decision NOT to hold til January is so that the originals (at least Kerry, Cheyenne, Tony, Mary and Jackie) can do the show in LA and then maybe open the stint in Chicago???
I would love to see Curtis as well, but doubt he would come back for the last. (

Would LOVE for that to be the case, but think the producers were really afraid of the next few months being very slow at the box office.
Yeah, I know, wishful thinking!!!
Its a shame, i hated it at first but when i watched it again i really enjoyed thanks to the talented cast.
They can all be very proud of what the achieved with a show where the critics had the knives out before it even opened and then went on to wow them
I don't hold out much hope for a UK production as its been on again off again for the past 6 months, and i think with Priscilla and Blonde opening in London the competition for the big camp musical would be to much lol
It's coming to LA WHEN?
I too am confused about this LA statement
damn, I really wanted to see this. But I won't be back out in NYC for some time.
Anyone rushed this in the last couple weeks? What was the policy?
Gotta get in to see this, part of the reason I was procrastinating was the inconsistency of BO opens vs. 2 hours before, etc.
Jonna, the Helen Hayes box office is 1-212-944-9450
Anyone find it interested the closing isn't listed on the show's website and tickets are one sale past the closing?

I am sad to hear this was closing. Xanadu is the underdog that ya just want to see 'make it' for a long run. I will be really excited to see Cheyenne and Kerry in something new though!
sidenote: I did see cheyenne in his run with Damn Yankees. All I can say was he was Damn Fabulous! wacka wacka wacka.....
I went to the box office this morning right after 10:00am to get tickets for the closing on October 12th, and the guy at the box office had no idea that the show was even closing.
I read that it will play LA in November at La Jolla --

That is probably the only time in my life that I hope and pray that the closing notice was one big fat mistake. The only thing that's a mistake is that it's closing, period. I am SO SAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am very upset this show is closing but look on the bright side of how wonderful this show was. I really can't think of one in recent history with people clocking in performance number 40 and higher!
Also, can you imagine how great these last few shows will be? I am getting a ticket for the 12th and I am so so excited.
La Jolla is in San Diego, not LA.
I Too am sad to see this closing - caught it on a whim during a brief NYC trip in June and loved it more than I thought I would.

UGH this is horrible news! I found out in the middle of school! Went through the rest of the day miserable. Luckily I managed to get tickets I'll be right mezz. row A, so even though I'd prefer to be orch. I'm so glad I'm at least in the theater!
Words can't express how sad I am. Ugh. DEPRESSED. But it made it soooooooooo much more than so many anticipated so I am soooo proud of it!
Good luck to Kerry Cheyenne and the rest of the cast! You'll go on to great things!
its "the love that we came to know!"
See you Oct. 12 everyone!!
I just got my ticket too, Row D, Left Mezz.
What a sad day this will be...
Is the Broadway set going on tour? I really don't see how this tour is going to be successful with the small Xanadu set and the huge theaters nation wide (for example: all the fox theaters).
I am late in the game, after taking my quick daily peek on Playbill and saying NOOOOO!!! I had to come on here and see the reactions. This has been my favorite new musical, in a very long, long time. Someone else mentioned a blurb about falling in love with Cheyenne Jackson, ditto that to the 5th power. Falling in love again with Kerry Butler after only getting to see glimpses of her power in Hairspray and Little Shop of Horrors. Being blown away by Mary Testa and Jackie Hoffman (These women MUST do another Broadway show), along with the wonderful Tony Roberts. And not to forget that ensemble, epsecially Andre Ward!
And nobody has mentioned the world's best Tony campaign manager. So Xanadu didn't win the Tony, but what a fun campaign it was. Oh Cubby, if you could work some of your magic and keep Xanadu open for a few more months through the holidays for addicts like myself. Broadway will be a dimmer place on October 13th.
I just got a ticket to make it my 4th time this coming Saturday night on TDF. What are the chances that the show will extend? I am a teeny bit hesitant to buy a ticket for the 12th just yet.
I found out through a friend of mine about it closing because my computer was being rebooted. I was numb and in shock all night because I honestly couldn't imagine walking past the Helen Hayes and not seeing those big purple hologram doors or the big Xanadu marquee gone.
I called and left messages for obsessedJB and I texted WonderRobbie and I just couldn't feel at that moment or comprehend it it all.
I broke down today listening to 'Don't Walk Away' and then cried all the way through 'Suspended in Time'. I went in loving the show because of Cheyenne and then fell in love with the goofy and remarkable little show that could. I think it brought alot of people together that normally wouldn't have associated with one another: The fANADUs are a diverse group of people and I wasn't too active of a participant in some of their events, but they are truly wonderful people. Meeting some of you at the show was a real treat for me: Testing, WonderRobbie, and many others.
Nightly at the Helen Hayes, a crazy group of people put on one of the smallest running cost shows on Broadway and yet, I think it has more heart and goofy charm in it's whole ninety minutes than most two hour shows do. The cast of Xanadu always seemed to be having a grand old time up there, and you could feel it: From onstage or in the orchestra or way up in the mezz, you felt it. The heart, the goofy charm, and the love. The love for a little engine that could. And what a ride our little engine that could had: A BEST MUSICAL nominee, having one of the most hysterical Tony campaigns to date and just proving that XANA-DON'T can really become XANA-DO!
As that little engine that could pulls into the station on Oct 12th, Broadway will lose a small show with a big big heart. And I for one, will miss it emensely.
So now that we know it's not going to happen, could someone spill the beans on that rumored major stunt casting that was supposed to occur?

Supposedly, Ben Vereen was going to fill in for Tony Roberts for 6 weeks, and there was also going to be someone filling in for Mary Testa for 6 weeks--- I had heard Rosie O-
P3 in the orchestra on October 12th I will be. What an electric and sad show that will be at the same time. The people in the onstage seats that last show so lucky!

Clumsy... thank you !!! Ditto here !!!
I just want to also mention what an amazing experience this has been for me (and my family!) You have all embraced us, and welcomed us with open arms.
Thanks so much to the entire cast and crew at the Helen Hayes.(the sweetest bunch of people that could ever work at ANY theatre !!)
To the cast--- thanks for never looking at us like a bunch of lunatics with no lives !!! LOL
Love ya all !!
For me, personally, I met my best friend because of this show.
( Luv ya S)
Just a couple of obsessed people (like many other fans of "this little show that DID), that got to experience the joy of being at the HH numerous times.
See ya all on the 12th ! (and hopefully before as well !)
