I don't know about best, but my favorite is Prayer.
I think lots of people will say Me and the Sky, but I found it out of place
My favorite overall segment is from "On the Edge" until "Screech in"
Favorite song to listen to on the cast album? "Me and the Sky"
Favorite song to experience in the theatre? "Prayer"
"Stop the World" and "Somewhere in the Middle of Nowhere" are my favorites. I actively dislike "Welcome to the Rock" which has become the show anthem.
yes to The Prayer as well. Also, Me and the Sky; Something's Missing & Heave Away/Screech In.

I love Heave Away/Screech In and Somewhere in the Middle of Nowhere.

Welcome to the Rock and Me & The Sky are the obvious choices. But Prayer was a completely gorgeous and creative song. And Something's Missing was so emotional and really hit home.
Just a few off the top of my head:
"Prayer" (which is ironic, because I'm an atheist)
"Heave Away"
"Welcome to the Rock" (which I'm surprised to say is really growing on me, as I didn't particularly care for it when I first saw it performed on TV)

I agree with those above but I also love 28 Hours/Wherever We Are and how it captures the initial fear and confusion turned insanity/madness of the passengers stuck on board the planes/
I catch myself repeating Heave Away a lot more than I expected... such a fun song. But the "best song" to me is hands down Me and the Sky.

While I agree with what everyone else has said, I am Here is one of the most beautiful songs in show. The desperation in her voice is heartbreaking. You can feel her pain which a lot of cast recordings dont convey

It is indeed hard to find a good song in CFA in my opinion, but I must admit I enjoy "Me & The Sky".
Not sure why anyone would want to listen to a song with these vomit-inducing lyrics. But to each their own.
Make me a channel of your peace:
Where there is hatred
Let me bring your love
Where there is injury
Your pardon, Lord
And where there's doubt
True faith in you

Bro you know that's an actual hymn? They didn't write those lyrics, they brought in an actual song that means a lot to a lot of people.
"The Prayer" is actually four real hymns. One Christian(Catholic), one Jewish, one Muslim & one Hindi. It's really a breathtaking piece in the show.
Certainly explains why it's so awful.
