mayor deblaisio shuts down NYC-tells broadway to go home today

Imagine those who have tickets today for "The Show".

When an event like this happens, how does it affect all of the performers...moneywise?

Agree that it was the right call but made way too late. After seeing the insanity that was the line outside Hamilton, I managed to get a rush ticket at School of Rock for the matinee - got a refund so no harm no foul. Too bad it didn't work out but the weather seems to have gotten worse as the day progressed.

Oh Mr. Roxy I can't help but to comment that you're sarcasm is dripping with bitterness and cynicism. It's so thick you could spread it on a cracker.

I agree with this. They did a poor job, literally running a risk of endangering the lives of performers, staff and patrons. Again, where are the priorities here? It's disturbing really.

They may be looking at a second day of cancelled shows if the travel ban is not lifted. The city is predicted to get 20-40 inches of snow. That is no joke!

It was absolutely irresponsible to wait until cast, crew and house staff had already arrived. You didn't need to be a weatherman to see that conditions were hazardous and that transit was going to be shut down at some point during the day. Most shows were going to be playing to an audience of 300 or less., so they should have just taken the loss and cancelled. Everyone always seem concerned about the cast and crew, but no one ever mentions that it is also dangerous for the house staff. They don't ALL live in Hell's Kitchen. And not all tourists are staying within walking distance. At least Disney cancelled ahead of time.

Your right, doubt there will be any shows until Tuesday since there are only selected shows that have a show on Monday.

If the Broadway League was really concerned about safety, they wouldn't have needed to wait for the mayor. The only reason shows were cancelled is because the mayor pretty much told them to.

Wow, that is bad. And I was feeling bad for Garen Scribner because he thought he was going to have to leave the siblings panel early to get over to An American in Paris to end up with it cancelled. The Met situation sounds so much worse.

It's odd. A lot of places closed for obvious reasons. But, I went to go see if a restaurant by my hotel was open and was expecting to end up eating cheese and potato chips for dinner instead. It was open along with a couple of other places.
