They're actually having a conversation with a dog???
Yep. And the dog has the best lyrics!
TheActr97J, thanks for letting me know it is Kerry Butler singing the number. I stand corrected. However, regardless of who is performing the song, it is simply disastrous.

Well, I liked it, and I'm really fussy. So there
If I listened to those "queens" (as someone put it) I wouldn't be interested in musical theatre AT ALL
I actually like it, but then again I really like Wedding Singer's music. But we can't expect too much from this musical look at the movie it is really fluffy and pink and thats as deep as it goes. Like everyone else has said it really sets everything up nice. If you can't agree with anything else you have to agree that the tune is catchy because I can't get it out of my head.
Not to be the "jerk" in this post but I am tired of listening to some of you comparing Legally Blonde w/ the same fate as the Wedding Singer considering that TWS was one of my favorite musicals I have seen in a long time. Sure I have seen the Grey Gardens, Jersey Boys, Chicago, Rent, Hairspray...but TWS was the most fun I have ever had in the theatre. Its a compliment for Legally Blonde to be compared to TWS.

Well, I do like "Omigod You Guys". It can get sort of annoying, and maybe the lyrics are rather cheesy, but still, I think it is an enjoyable song. Not the best I've heard from the show, but still good. The whole "Bruiser-where's Elle?" and the "Old Valley Mill" thing was funny :)
And I really think Laura sounds amazing.
But I've said that a lot.
So people are probably tired of hearing it.
Wow you guys are such buzz killers! First, can I say yet again that we need to STOP comparing eveything to TWS. That show is awful and should not be the benchmark you're all making it. There's not enough time for me to describe all that was/is wrong with TWS starting with the almost blatantly ripped off "original" score. I think OHMIGOD is fine, I think it's the annoying way it's being sung that's upsetting everyone. Bundy needs to stop desperately emulating Kriten Chenoweth and find her own identity. I've been on the fence about her for a while but as I've said, there's alot of other elements (like Orfeh, Blake, Jerry Mitchell, Benjamin, O'Keefe) that just might make it worth eveyones while. At the same time, maybe Bundy will pull it off and surprise everyone. I hear many of the other songs are MUCH better, so maybe they're saving some of the better stuff?
I kinda like the song. It's very umm...blonde. lol. I couldn't think of any other way to describe it. But it fits in nicely.
And Ruprecht, I totally disagree with your oppinion on TWS. I love it, and it didn't deserve to close too soon.

Like rockfenris2005 I am fussy and I really liked it!
It kinda reminded me of TWS. I think it should be playing at a smaller theatre. I just have a feeling it's not going to be the hit I want it to be. Let's remember a little show that played at The Palace Theatre called All Shook Up. A great show IMO but it would've lasted a lot longer at a smaller theatre! I just don't think it will be hit
I don't think Bundy is thinking "Be Chenoweth." in her mind during the whole thing. I think she's thinking "Be a dumb blonde." and of course it's going to remind everyone of Chenoweth.
I'll come right out and say I think that's the best opening number that broadway's seen in the last few seasons. It's catchy, it sets up the characters, it's cute and funny....
I'm so sick of people saying "oh it's not gonna be the next les mis or grey gardens, but..." If it took itself nearly as seriously as those two do, it would be a MUCH bigger problem. If you ask me, the song seems to know what it is, and does it sucessfully. If the rest of the show is equally crafted, I'll enjoy the hell out of it. And y'all can stay home.
My problem with film-to-stage adaptations seems to be borne out with Legally Blonde now as well.
There's this desire to paint in even BROADER strokes than on film the key moments of the movie. Take event A, pair it with line B (in this case, the many funny one-liners of Jennifer Coolidge) and add some catchy songs.
Gloss it up, buff it with a great set and energetic cast, and no one will notice that it's even more watered down than the film.
Heart? Lost? Charm? Lost.
When I first heard this show was being adapted, I thought it could actually work and work very well. It's cute, it's charming, there's love, there's a "don't judge the book by its cover" idea...
Aside from the catchy beat, the song doesn't really set up much for me except that it's going to be cliche-ridden.

The Wedding Singer didn't last, why will this? The music for these Movie turned musicals suck. Hairspray was great. TWS and LB just are a mess...almost a joke. What is Broadway coming to? People go see Spring Awakening, Grey Gardens. 2 great new shows! Now they are theatre!

A lot of people liked TWS. And you haven't even heard the whole score. You've just heard 1 song and you're gonna say it sucks? *rolls eyes*
P.S. Spring Awakening sucks.

Theatre is theatre, I don't see what all the complaining is about. Technically theatre should be all hard-rock and modern, if it actually kept up with the radio trends (like it did in the 40s and 50s etc.)
I don't think the music for all film-to-stage adaptations sucks. In fact, some of it's good. Maybe enough of it is bad to make public opinion seem that it's always the case, but there are plenty of films made into musicals that do just fine. I mean, if you want to get technical, something like Chicago is a film adaptation (it'd been a play and a film). That might be splitting hairs a bit too finely though.
It's this recent trend of spotting the cute pop culture film hit, buying up the stage rights, cobbling together a team and packaging a product that is the problem.

when do we get PATCH ADAMS: THE MUSICAL?

The only thing I can say about this song is "OMIGOD!" And I don't mean that in a good way.
Once again, this is Kerry Butler singing in this song, and not Bell Bundy. It's from the demo recording. So reserve judgement on Bell Bundy... because... well, it isn't her.
"Well, I liked it, and I'm really fussy. So there,"
said the man who is obsessed with the Batman score by Steinman. That puts it all in perspective.
jeez, some people REALLY cannot handle a fun, fluffy song and a new musical that doesn't take itself so seriously. Do you guys have ANY fun? ever? It's a cute song!!
It's a cute song. I like the songs they've put out - they're not meaningful, empowering songs, but they're fun.
I'm looking forward to going home and hearing Kerry singing it. And I don't think Laura Bell's trying to sound like anyone but herself. This is her role.
It does sound a lot like Wedding Singer, and I'm hoping the show doesn't turn out the way TWS did for me - great score, not-so-good show.
Give it time. As someone said, don't judge a 2 1/2 hr show on a 5 minute song.
Do you guys have ANY fun? ever?
I do. When I listen to well crafted witty and delightful shows such as Drowsy Chaperone, Hairspray and Dames At Sea. But I can tell you this, even if the rest LB's score turns out to be great and I buy the recording, this is the one song that will get skipped.

That was Kerry Butler!? OMIGOD! lol

Wait, did Kerry Butler do the whole sampler, like all 3 songs?
It sure sounded like Laura Bell to me...
"That is about the worst series of songs I've heard from a Broadway musical since THE PRINCE OF CENTRAL PARK. Hideous."
PRINCE OF CENTRAL PARK had a few decent songs (Here's Where I Belong, New Leaf) and a few horrendous ones (Zap, Red), but it is funny that you brought up yet another Richard Blake flop.
