As far as I know Kerry did the sampler. But then again I could be wrong.
Can anyone confirm it for sure?
how can I get the demo?? everyone seems to have it but nobody says where it came from!!

I haven't listened to the song from the SHNSF website, but the versions on the 3-song demo are definitely Bell Bundy. Just compare it to her singing in the rehearsal video. It's exactly the same.
Honestly the only thing exciting prospect of this musical was Larry O'Keefe, who can turn out some great numbers (Comfort and Joy being one of my favorite songs) but these demo songs do tend to fall a little flat.
Hopefully there's at least one jem of a song we haven't heard yet.

Maybe if you actually read the past posts, you would have gotten the sampler.
HERE
Just judging by that one song . . . BLEGH! That was the corniest piece of crap I have heard in a long time (and I like musicals that most people hate). I sill still give this a chance, but if it is all like that one song, then it is dead to me.

It is NOT Kerry Butler but indeed Laura Bell Bundy.

I thought so.
Well after hearing all three sampler songs I can now say, "You all go and have a blast, I hope you enjoy it. But I have to go vomit now." And if that is indeed Bundy on the recordings it is too bad. Maybe they should have stayed with Butler.
Munk is not difficult as posted by an earlier poster. He is just to the point. He doesn't flower his thoughts. AND, he says a lot of nice things on this board, but people don't remember those. Posters need not personalize his postings or project onto them.
I also dont care for the Legally Blonde song. No offense to those who do. The source material is a b-movie that appeals to teenage girls and teenage gays. I have no interest and cant see many folks plunking down 121 bucks to hear that. Although if it hooks the WICKED girls then who knows. Live and let live.
In defense of Richard Blake, he was like eight years old :-P
Back to the subject at hand, I would reserve judgment for the actual show. I find that there are a lot of people on here who don't enjoy those feel good musicals that are all fluff and fun. But for every lover of more dark and thought provoking musicals, there are those WEdding Singer fans, etc that counteract. I have faith in Jerry Mitchell and this cast.
It is indeed Laura Bell on the sampler. I think she needs to perfect the character of Elle, but I love her voice and the power behind it in some of the songs on the sampler. I was fortunate enough to see her as Glinda in "Wicked" and she was amazing, so I have faith she can pull this off.
I am actually really excited to see Leslie Kritzer back on stage in a comedic role. She is a huge talent. And although Richard Blake and Orfeh may not have a great history with some shows, Christian Borle has a rather good record, I believe.
Are we blaming the actors again for the material? Not Orfeh and Blakes' fault that SNF wasn't to everyones liking. Still light years better than Mamma Mia so it's all subjective. And yet no matter what, most people are *most* excited about those two and a few others being in the cast, so apparently, it doesn't much matter. As for Bundy, she needs to find her own voice both figuratively and literally.
So let me get something straight...
I am the first one to say that this song is awful, so that makes me a horrible person, a kill-joy, and someone with a lot of pent up frustration.
Then nearly everyone else agrees that it's terrible, and the hate fest ceases.
Am I missing something?
Lovely. This inane song is now stuck in my head. S**t. I never thought such a tuneless song could get stuck in my head.

Having listened, it seems to me to be no better or worse that the crap that some of you folks slobber all over, Rent, Wicked and The Wedding Singer (which is just utter garbage save for the opening number which could kick ass in any show).
It IS however, far more enjoyable than anything that misbegotten grandson of Richard Rodgers has ever composed. I can't sit through Adam Guettel's swill.
So, for me, all-in-all I guess it's a half thumb up.
Maybe the girls will be cute. That'll get me there. (I would have been a sucker for the Follies).
Hell, I just listened to it again. Some of you folks are nuts. It's hilarious. It gets the job done. It's catchy.
The little girls will love it. And, unlike Wicked and Rent which I think are hubristic, self-inflated poop, this is a show about a girl who loves pink and little dogs and, OHMYGOD she solves a freakin' murder with perm/rinse knowledge.
She's not dying of aids or trying to save The Emerald City.
Let's wait till the show comes out to crap all over it.
Am listening to "Omigod You Guys"
Speaking as someone who normally likes the cheese (TWS is guilty pleasure of mine) I'm a bit disapointed in this. I'm a bit sceptical about the musical in the first place as I think what made the film was Witherspoon's performance and this has done nothing to dispell my feeling of unease. It's just not what that great. And I'm not that keen on the vocal performances either.
I think it's hilarious! Even the title of "Omigod You Guys" is brilliant. I am sure the song's context will work better with the staging, but I think it's fun!
I can't wait to see it next month!!!
I wish you would watch "Let's Go to the Mall" by Robin Sparkles (from How I Met Your Mother") on that video website. I think it's on the same level as Legally Blonde - fun, silly, and entertaining!
Wow. The song is horrible, BUT it is one that you can't get out of your head. I'm not going to judge the show based on this one song, but hopefully the show itself has some better musical offerings.
However, the movie started with a sterotypical view of sorority life and then showed that there was more to Elle than just the typical dumb blonde. I think that's what they are probably doing with the musical. Dumb song to open it, hopefully better songs along the way.

Was everyone expecting a ballad ala les miz to be the opening number. the movie version was not serious and they talked to bruiser in that too....
Munk, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I think people are being overly harsh. People can like it or hate it. i just think for the overall show, people should reserve judgment until they see it.
And Orfeh and Richard Blake are both huge talents who shined in their respective shows, no matter how bad they were. Orfeh was great as Pippi in Trailer Park and in reading reviews of her and Blake in Saturday NIght Fever, they were both considered highlights. My favorite part of "wedding Singer" actually happens to be Richard's dance break in "All About the Green" - that boy can dance!!
Orfeh will definitely be a big plus. They should have let her sing on the demo!
This is going to be a fun show!!
this is going to be fantastic
and whoever said they thought it was Kerry Butler, she did the demo for "Little Mermaid"...
