I respect dissenting opinion, but that's just plain rude. I wouldn't go into a "love" thread and say that I "dislike" the show. People have no manners on here sometimes…
Yeah... last time I checked, I didn't create this thread with the title "this thread is SO [title of show] so feel free to come in here and share your word vomit".
That's all.

Well the problem is there were a couple of "negative" threads regarding [tos], but they were deleted. That's why dissenting opinions have been posted here. Updated On: 8/21/08 at 03:01 PM
I love how it feels to be at a performance of [tos] the Lyceum.
I love how people are extremely affected by this show, no matter which side of the spectrum their reaction is on. This show stirs something in people.
I talked to a woman in her 40's the other day at the stage door... she had brought her two teenaged kids to see the show, and they loved it and bought tons of merchandise. I made a joke about what a cool mom she was for letting them buy out the [title of show] merch booth. She told me that some of the stuff was for HER, and that she'd been in love with the tos youtube series and sending it to her friends from college! We had a lovely, interesting conversation about how she was a theatre major in college and was hugely passionate about becoming an actress, and then she gave it up in her mid- 20's to have a family. She said she hadn't even considered ever going back to the theatre, but something in [title of show] made her want to audition again... and she's going to! I can't convey the sweet awesomeness of this lady, and I hope I see her again so I can find out how her audition was!!!
I'll see some of you guys at Chatterbox tonight....
I'm lotto-ing (or balcony-ing) tonight with a good friend I grew up with who is now @ NYU. So excited for round 2, its gonna be cramazing.
I love America. Just because I think gay dudes should be allowed to adopt kids and we should all have hybrid cars doesn't mean I don't love America.

Saw the show tonight (won the lotto) and loved life.
Brought a [tos] virgin and sat next to a fellow BWW member for whom it was their second time and his [tos] virgin friend as well.
Finally got to catch the gang at the stage door after seeing them out and about and missing them at Opening Night. Simply delightful.
Heidi said I am the spear-head of the Oprah campaign and for you [tos]sers to get writing.

FINALLY seeing the show in two days! I got my tickets way back in April and I really cannot wait right now. Hopefully this will be the first of many, many times now that I'm back in New York.
Tulita, I was sitting on house right, near the front... i was the one who expressed her excitement a little bit too vocally when Heidi indicated she was going to tell her Broadway debut/ 5pm call/ Emily Skinner out story... I love that story. Where were you sitting? The ladies were fantastic.
I am a huge [tos] lover but since im in Canada...I haven't seen it yet...BUT...I am going to be in NYC on Oct.2...for 2 weeks, and am getting SOOOO EXCITED....anyways...i have a boner for this thread...but enough about me..
I LOVE the OPRAH idea...but what about ELLEN!?!?!
lets all start a petition...or write individual letters...and make [tos] dreams come TRUE!
I'm all for Ellen but just figured the "inspirational" message of the show would be more compelling to Oprah (and the Secret).
Also, every piece of doody Oprah touches turns to gold as we all know. Not that [tos] is anywhere near doody, but I'd love to see their numbers sky-rocket :]
PS Check out what I found on my walk home y'all!
ACE OF DEATH!!!

Believe me, I'd love to see them on every show on every network if at all possible :P

But please - whoever was at the chatterbox - more details! I was able to catch Jeff and Hunter at the last one, and they were fantastic, but I'm on vacation this week and could not make it to see Susan and Heidi. What funny stories did they tell? Did anyone bring fun video clips? Did either of them sing?
Chatterbox was SO GOOD! Heidi and Susan both told stories of their childhoods and how they first dipped into the "biz". Susan showed a very funny clip from a performance of "Oliver" she was in... She had ONE line and someone talked right over it!
They sang "What Kind of Girl Is She?" which is still hilarious even out of context.
The crowd was great and it was PACKED! We all had assigned seats... lol
Afterwards I ended up going to the show... what the hell, right? The audience was amazing and the stage door was pretty crazy too.
I ended up geeking it up with Jeff about comics and had an awesome convo with Michael Berresse. He's so friggin' nice.
He's so talented and so very proud of everyone in that cast. Much like all of us!!!

I'm getting to see the show tonight for the first time. I'm so excited! I've listened to the cast recording for forever and am so glad to finally see it!
So excited for you, starlet2! Please report back after you've seen it! :)
Shout out to ROLLING STONE's Peter Travers!
After his review of the MAMMA MIA! soundtrack, he talks about the CDs of IN THE HEIGHTS (he likes), PASSING STRANGE (he LOVES...word) and [the subject of this thread]:
[title of show], the newest musical on Broadway, is all about writing a musical. And it’s the biggest little show on Broadway. Big in laughs, big in heart, big in talent, and big in songs that get inside your head and take you for a smart, sassy ride. What’s small is the set —just a few chairs, occupied by composer Jeff Bowen, librettist Hunter Bell, two friends (Heidi Blickenstaff and Susan Blackwell) who help them sing their vision, and keyboardist Larry Pressgrove who accompanies their flights of fancy. You’ve probably never heard of any of them. But see them, hear them, letthem inside, and they’ll be yours for life. The rap on [title of show] —it's the first line you fill out on an application to enter a musical-writing contest—is that it’s an insider’s piece, filled with references that zigzag like a monkey steering a speedboat from Shakespeare to Sondheim to Seadaris. The truth about [title of show] is that it’s about the creative drive that lives in all of us until we let the vampires of despair suck it out of our jugulars. The spectacular song, “Die, Vampire, Die,” spearheaded by the fierce and funny Blackwell, spells it out in universal terms. As Blickenstaff sings powerfully and touchingly about how to find “a way back to then, ” there won’t be a non-vampire who can’t relate . Make no mistake, Bowen and Bell take us on a comic odyssey with devilish glee. Zestily directed by Michael Berresse, [title of show], is a “hot box of crazy.” But what makes it stick is the generous humanity of the gifted performers on that stage and the songs they bring to vibrant life. Get the cast album pronto, listen to them sing, “I’d rather be nine people’s favorite thing/than a hundred people’s ninth favorite thing,” and you’re hooked. [title of show] is a small miracle, and simply irreresitible.
I think Time Out NY should devote an issue to them.
Anybody? Anybody?
