i've been thinking about that a lot. denée is most likely going to leave when her contract is up, so is it possible that pippa would replace her? i mean, she originated the role, and with amelie closing, she's not really doing anything. i think that would be good for great comet and pippa.
thoughts?
While I'm sure anything is possible, I don't really see it happening.
And, of course, we have no idea if she's working on anything, or will be shortly.
I'm praying she gets cast as Eliza Doolittle.
I'm sure there's negotiations taking place between her and the producers of HAMILTON. Not that the show needs it, but it would bring attention back to it if she were to rejoin the show even for a limited return.
It still kills me that she turned down the opportunity to bring the role she created in Comet to Broadway to star in the ill-fated Amelie. It's similar to when Brandon Victor Dixon didn't move with Scottsboro Boys to do a Ray Charles musical that ended up not happening.

Unfortunately, they both went to the same tarot card reading who told them both to take the leads in those 2 shows claiming their careers will be catapulted into super stardom. Boy, were they duped. They should have known from the get-go that the shows would be the flops they were and with SCOTTSBORO BOYS, Dixon would have had a double-whammy so he lost out no matter which one he chose.

no one cares. btw im shocked no ones mentioned adam lambert for anatole
^people have. But he's on tour with queen, apparently. We keep hearing they are trying to get a name to replace. Anyone know for which role?
Did we know for sure she actually turned down Comet?
Yeah, but he would have probably gotten the Tony nomination instead of Joshua Henry. But hey, his career seems to have turned out alright, lol.

considering most members of the original cast went to broadway, her absence in the cast seems to indicate they would have approached her for it and they turned her down. i can't imagine why they wouldn't have.
At least Brandon Victor Dixon was able to take THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS to London. He may have regretted not taking the show to Broadway, but that's just the way the cookie crumbles sometimes in this business. As for Soo--whatever she does, she has a huge career ahead of her.

It was on another thread but two people confirmed that she did, in fact, turned down Comet. Also, she recently said on Instagram that was she reading through scripts, so maybe there is something in the works there. She has been working non stop for about 3 years now, it's good to take a break.

Yes as Margo said, she said on Instagram that she was learning lines. So she clearly is working on something.
Anyone that thinks she'd return to Hamilton is delusional.
The thing is with her doing Great Comet in the first place is she left Hamilton in July and Great Comet started previews in October. She would have had to go straight from 18 months of Hamilton (not to mention all the press and promo that came with that show) into Great Comet rehearsals. And Denée talks all the time about how tiring that role is in that theatre.
I'm sure the option is open for her if Denée is leaving in October. Phillipa has seen the show at least twice on Broadway, most recently sitting with Dave Malloy to watch Oak's first night and she's still close with the original cast and crew. I don't think I could see her signing a year contract for the show but maybe if she had some information about when it will close she could do a limited run to see it close, if she has nothing more substantial lined up. But she's young, beautiful, talented and I'm sure she has offers. So we'll see.
"Leaning lines" = for auditions, maybe? Eliza auditions have been happening at Lincoln Center this past week... a guy can dream

Maybe she could do Carrie in Carousel?

I don't remember that, but thanks.

Because she would be asked to audition for the role she developed, created, and got a Tony nomination for?

Because there's no way someone could misunderstand that.
why would lincoln center be holding auditions for who is to play elizabeth hamilton when they've had (to my knowledge) nothing to do with Hamilton except for that 2012 presentation? also broadway concierge has been talking of his desire for Phillipa to play Eliza Doolittle for years now. 2+2=4
I'd have to imagine at this point, she is looking at film/tv scripts - Amelie slowed down the transition to more lucrative opportunities that her Hamilton co-stars jumped on.
Well, that would have bee a choice. (if there was any choosing to have happened)

Not every theatre star is bothered about doing film or TV, especially when they have Hamilton profits to fall back on.
I have no idea if Phillipa is or isn't but she seems very much like someone that aimed first and foremost for a theatre career unlike Daveed, Renée etc. who did music/TV/film first and then returned to it post-Hamilton. Lin is slightly different as I'm not sure anyone would turn their nose up at the Hollywood opportunities he's been given.
