BOOP! x Tony Awards
 Jun 4 2025, 12:13:49 PM

I’m not saying David Foster would make a huge difference, I’m saying this feels like a passion project and I would think he’d want to talk about it more and showcase the leading lady by simply showing up on the Today Show or something to play for her- other less known composers have done that sort of thing. There’s also a pre-show where instead of droning on about fashion or talking to actors who arguably no one outside the community knows at home, they could slot in a

I’d say with the current state of Broadway and audience levels waning the more the merrier is a good argument to be made to the league. If the shows have the money to do it, let them, get eyes on the shows and keep them open. I’m still baffled they haven’t used David Foster at all for press- his first Broadway score and he is active in the press for other things and this music was being performed before the show was even open in Chicago to generate buzz- Jessica Vosk did &ld

Scarlett was on tonight and they noticeably had a large insert for her joining the company as her bio and picture are not in the current playbill. She did all of Kate’s material according to the song list. She was wonderful, didn’t see Kate, but Scarlett is equally the pro and fit seamlessly into the cast.

The 78th Annual Tony Award Nominations for 2025
 May 1 2025, 01:48:07 PM

I can kind of see the Shen snub, in my opinion what I think happened is that Criss’ characterization really hurt her. I’m over simplifying, but they are both robots, and while I get she is a newer model, when I first saw the show I had a hard time with his stylization compared to hers. She just comes off as a normal girl where as his angular movements come across as more abstract. To me, it looks like she isn’t doing anything special to become her character- it’s proba

The 78th Annual Tony Award Nominations for 2025
 May 1 2025, 01:26:00 PM

I think the noms look mostly about what I’d expected. A couple minor quibbles, the only true surprise to me was Igelhart. I do think if we’re doing the whole special Tony thing that the crew making the Sunset walk happen nightly should’ve gotten a nod- I expect good stage craft and a killer band when I go to the theatre. While I agree the band at Buena Vista Social Club is the heart of the show, the musicians at any Broadway musical I’d expect to be top tier. I don&rsq

Spring 2025 Red Buckets

I know Outsiders has Playbills for $75 and Posters $150. Sunset had Playbills for $60 and Posters for $300. Redwood had Playbills for $60 and Posters for $150.

Anyone know is Maybe Happy Ending has Playbills or not?

Anyone have updates on what shows are offering? I know Outsiders has Playbills for $75 and Posters $150. Sunset had Playbills for $60 and Posters for $300.

SMASH Previews
 Mar 12 2025, 11:46:05 AM

I too appear to be in the minority as well. I had a really good time, it is definitely a theatre person’s show. That being said I think they do a really nice job of making a stand alone product here, meaning if you didn’t see Smash you can still go in and have a great time and understand what’s going on. The music is all still there for the most part. There are some 32 bar cuts, but looking back on the show, that’s what they were there too- for recordings they were exp

Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 2/23/25

One name comes to mind when replacing Audra- Heather Headley. Get a film star Herbie and it could run.

City Centers 24-25: Ragtime, Urinetown, LaChiusa's Wild Party, Love Life
 Feb 11 2025, 11:08:23 PM

Jordan, I was there tonight as well, I found it to be an uneven production. I was happy to see Keala back, but now Tiffany was out and she’s always a highlight for me no matter what she is doing- I still think they should’ve upgraded her to Sarah in Ragtime. Anyway, Urinetown- I too saw the original and thought it was damn funny- I disagree that the material is the problem with this production, I think it’s the direction. Nothing was gained by making Little Sally an actual c

I’ve been thinking of Heather since I saw Audra- would love to see it!

Liberation at RTC
 Feb 1 2025, 01:11:34 AM

I thought it was an oddly timely play considering the subject matter and the fact it is a memory play. It raises a litany of very interesting topics in a relatable way that manages not to preach and prompts real thought. These women are doing some beautiful work- all of their characters seem so well developed, a credit to Wohl and acted with fearless honesty for so early in previews. I’d love to see this later in performances again because it will only get tighter and their relatio

Listen, the results of the election are still very raw, but I think a lot of people are allowing their blind rage to cloud their vision here. Don’t get me wrong, I’m mad as hell and I am ready to fight! However, cancelling a Pussycat Doll for who she may or may not have voted for is very low on my agenda of battles to fight. The other side is counting on this discourse and the vitriol toward a woman in a Broadway show from a community that prides itself on being tolerant and able

Is this worth seeing without Neil Patrick Harris? How large is his role? I’ve heard Jane is the standout. Purely curious as this weekend he is scheduled to be out and tickets are drastically reduced.

Patti LuPone called a privileged, racially microaggressive bully by Hell's Kitchen cast member
 Nov 5 2024, 12:23:38 AM

I’m glad someone brought up performance reports in another post, I forgot to mention that- however, ask any SM in the business actors do not get that information it goes to the creatives and production staff- many actors would be displeased if they knew some of what is documented in them. It’s disturbing to me that many here are bringing up that videos have been carefully cut and things omitted from one side of this conversation which seems very disingenuous- telling half tru

Patti LuPone called a privileged, racially microaggressive bully by Hell's Kitchen cast member

I’m a little confused by the framing of the issue by Lewis- she seems to imply Patti used her “privilege”, I’d prefer to use the term relationship with the theatre owner to complain which sounds informal. She later states it was a formal complaint which seems to be the proper way to handle the situation. We are all over looking that the issue at hand has to go through many channels before it is acted upon- we’re not talking about a volume dial on a stereo. It wou
