Does Broadway Cares still do spring collections and the Easter Bonnet show? I didn’t see it listed on their website?
The Easter Bonnet Competition has unfortunately been discontinued.
I know of at least a few Broadway companies that were signing Playbills and posters in recent days.
That’s a shame. It was always so much fun.
Similarly, did Carols for a Cure not happen this year? I was wondering if that program, which I love, was petering out.
If so, I'm disappointed: one of my bucket list items was to have one of my shows last long enough Off-Broadway to get a song on CFAC. That way, someone thinks about your show every year, no matter how obscure (Kat and the Kings, Blast, Bingo, etc.).

It was always a fun event but lately there seems to be less and less of these events. Once Upon a time there were Gypsys and they also were forced to become a thing of the past. The robe was renamed...

Yes, and in some cases spring fundraising has already started.

That's amazing! Sorry for a follow-up question, but do you know which shows?

Nat'l tour of MAMMA MIA!, off the top of my head. I don't think any Broadway shows have started yet but that should change in the coming days.

The Broadway Red Bucket season kicks off on Friday this week.

I assume that means that most shows will be offering signed playbills, window cards, etc. after the show? I regret not buying at some of my favorite shows, and I’m trying to start to buy if the playbill price is reasonable.
I wonder why it’s not happening this year…last year they raised $4.7m which was more than the two years prior. They’re not making as much as pre-pandemic (highest year was 2017 at $6.5m) but it still seemed to be a success.
The Easter Bonnet brings in a hell of a lot more money than the lame ‘Broadway Bets’.
Nearly every OPEN Bway show will participate. (They are not permitted to start while still in previews, but can join once they open - some do, others don't - I think it depends on how much is left in the campaign as a deciding factor, which is up to the show themselves.)

The 6-week in-theater appeal Easter Bonnet fundraising season is still happening.
All that is not happening is the 2-day Easter Bonnet Competition variety show at the end of the fundraising cycle.

Last year, instead of the Easter Bonnet, they did Hats Off to You, which was a smaller variety show of sorts that was for certain levels of donors (a meal took place after the show). It took place at the Hard Rock Cafe and was hosted by the late Gavin Creel. I'm assuming they're do the same this year.
The Easter bonnet competition was a national treasure, and I didn't even know they stopped it until just now- after Broadway Backwards. I went in its final year, I believe (2023?) and it was so silly and enjoyable, I'd bring a kid to it, unlike Boradway Bares/Bets and the flea. I hope they reconsider or come up with another initiative for next year. Though I'm glad to hear there's still spring fundraising going into Tony season!

They’ll be doing a different event this year, not at the Hard Rock. I don’t know more than that just that it won’t be the same as in 2024. Unfortunately the Easter Bonnet show is not coming back.
Anyone have updates on what shows are offering? I know Outsiders has Playbills for $75 and Posters $150. Sunset had Playbills for $60 and Posters for $300.
Redwood was offering signed posters for $150 and signed playbills for $60 this afternoon.
