Maybe this is being discussed in another thread, but the trailer came out today...doesn't look like the disaster everyone was prophesying, but still...I'm not sure.   Thoughts?

I think it looks like a magical fairy tale musical, and I'm really excited for it!

I don't have much interest in this, though I kinda hope it does really well just to shove it to all the "Disney too woke" people who are so incensed by this movie.

From the trailer my first thought is that they're gonna have a hard time arranging the sound of the classic songs with the new Pasek and Paul songs if the brief snippet we hear of one is any indication...  (Which sounds like a more standard modern Disney I Wish song--nothing like 1937's I'm Wishing... which I assume will still be in in some capacity.)

This. And then some. Simple solution -- don't watch it, if you don't want to. But leave others to their entertainment.

I hope it turns out well for Rachel Zegler’s sake. She’s so talented and seems like such a sweet girl, so it’s hard to watch people sending her so much hate for no good reason.

That being said, I think the dwarfs look uncanny, Gal Gadot seems out of her depth, and the now cliché “we have to save the kingdom” addition feels very cringe.

I don’t think it looks too bad. I’ll watch. I like the costumes. I hope there’s enough to make up for the CGI Dwarves.

And conversely there are those who think a "celebrity" who insults potential audience members isn't the right way to go about things either.

Not to mention the latest election proved that a majority of voters were more concerned with their daily livelihoods than they are the opinions of wealthy "stars" who reside in guarded and gilded lifestyles.

The latter certainly have a right to their opinions, but to ignore the needs that others might have which guide their voting just because YOU don't agree with them doesn't make them wrong either.

This chick doesn't live in their shoes, and criticizing them isn't going to gain friends and influence people in a positive way.

The problem with the electorate is that that they take statements of generalities far too personally and allow it to turn them into ****ty ass people or rather... enforce their ****ty ass attitudes. Instead of hearing statements and being like "Hey... I'm not like that and doesn't apply to me." Their self centered minds thinks EVERYTHING is about them.

Its similar to how you made sweeping generalizations about "Hollywood" and their "gilded towers" when actually only a small handfull of those working in Hollywood actually make a ton of money and that includes MOST actors. Almost every profession is majority working class while some get paid or rewarded heavily for their contributions.

ANYways...

I'm mixed on the trailer.  I'm not sure how I feel about Snow White being some sort of upstart politician, which is what the trailer suggests.  As for Zegler, she seems awfully....modern.  This intense Snow isn't terribly convincing having a romp with playful forest animals.

As for conservatives getting up in arms about this, they can put on a happy face...some day their chintz will come:

The whole thing looks soulless and AI-generated.

And the dwarves are very upsetting.

I thought the trailer looked terrible, even for Disney live action standards (of which I do not have a high opinion). Rachel’s acting seemed strange (read: bad), the dwarves looked weird, and Gal is way prettier than Rachel making the whole “fairer” plot seem illogical (although her acting is worse, which is almost impressive). The only thing that looked appealing to me were the animated bunnies.

I mean... the Queen has always looked physicaly beautiful, the thing keeping her from being "The Fairest" is that she's a horrible person...

What a trailer. I didn't think it could get any worse and then they hit us with the anachronistic genericism of Pasek & Paul.

I don't get this need to redo every Disney classic with a live action film because they always end up worse in comparison to the original. There is not one had even came close to matching the greatness or charm of the animated versions but this one looks particularly awful. I guess that Disney knows that there will be a built in audience of parents who remember the originals and want to give their children the magic of seeing something like that on the big screen, but I think they would be far better served just watching the animated Snow White film on the Disney channel.

I'm rather dreading when Lilo & Stitch comes outbecause that's a real favorite of mine and I don't want to see it screwed up or watered down.

I don't have morals. I do have standards.

I'm not really interested in this movie, we've already had 2 Snow White movies.

I know of Snow White films with Evil Queens played by Diana Rigg, Miranda Richardson, Charlize Theron and Julia Roberts.

Non-Disney SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN (which also got a sequel in 2016) and MIRROR MIRROR (with Julia Roberts) both came out in 2012, which may be why Disney didn't prioritize a live-action Snow White movie earlier.

^ I was a bigger fan of Mirror Mirror. And I remember thinking having two Snow Whites in the same year would be some kind of joke. Luckily I’m interested in seeing what they do differently.

There was also an Italian version, I think, that had Sigourney Weaver as the Evil Queen and Gil Bellows as the hunky, shirtless head "dwarf".

There was also the wonderful silent film Blancanieves, which set the story in Spain.
