Ariana Grande

Rumors abound in London that she has pulled out of the Sunday in the Park revival next summer at the Barbican. There seem to have been some weirdness about when tickets would go on sale so maybe the rumors are stemming from that?

Ariana Grande

Yeah there seems to obviously be something going on with this, the way the Barbican hasn’t said anything or updated people on this, when it was supposed to go on sale last month. I feel bad for the staff there if she pulls out or even postpones a year, having to deal with the (I’m assuming) thousands of people who spent good money on a one year membership, to have access to this.

Ariana Grande

I think this is a good example of why shows shouldn’t be announced over a year in advance, especially with a celebrity like Ariana Grande attached. There’s so much time for it to fall apart. In addition to the obvious life crap she’s going through, her schedule changes constantly (this current tour is literally a contractual obligation she postponed because of the Wicked press marathon).

I kinda had a feeling this is what was happening.

I'm pretty sure you'll were on some pretty good drugs if you hallucinated her doing 8 shows a week live anywhere.

I...may get raked over the coals for saying this, but I think it more likely than not that her current tour gets cut short. She is very clearly not well, and I'm kind of tired of my intelligence being insulted by those online carrying pitchforks for anyone who expresses the slightest concern for what we all see plainly right in front of our eyes. She's been especially candid about her mental health struggles, so those with concern are entirely valid in that concern. This isn't body shaming (though the way people express this concern is critical), it's worry for someone a lot of people care deeply about.

So goes the tour, so goes this, unfortunately.

I don't mean to sound insensitive, but would this make it much easier to get a ticket?

It'll be a cakewalk without her.

...you should maybe look up the origin of the term 'cakewalk' before you use it again.

Unless they line up Sabrina Carpenter in her place (if she’s not too busy with 42nd Street [/sarcasm]), anyone they’d get to replace her would make it an easier ticket.

There’s also a world where she’s still going to do it, and they just want to hold off on selling actual tickets until she’s through the thick of whatever’s happening with her — physically and/or mentally. It’s not like it’s happening in a few months.

Announcing so far in advance was such a mistake.

Not sure that's true. It actually gives more flexibility for things to shift in the in between without it requiring massive refunds, exchanges, etc. It's a much worse look for a production to have to cancel performances than say the production overall had to shift by 6 months or whatever. That said, those who paid just for guaranteed access, that's a big headache they could have saved themselves.

What exactly is going on with her? Everyone keep referencing what she's "going through."

Same I have no idea. Hope all is well, though. She is such a talent.

She is alarmingly thin. While I try to never comment on women's bodies, it is incredibly scary to see how thing she's become. She just launched a tour and the videos I've seen are alarming. Id be shocked if she finishes this tour and even more so if she ends up in the West End.

She has addressed her weight loss and seems to be healthy. Fans, I guess, don't believe her.

How does this entire thread NOT violate BWW's own rule?

She's not alarmingly thin. Are you an MD to discuss her body and decide what's alarming and what's not? Stop judging people's bodies. Plenty of thin people who are very healthy and don't require anyones unsolicited health and appearance advice. Same applies to people with bigger bodies.

She absolutely is alarmingly thin and that mindset is how we get another Karen Carpenter situation

I can only speak for myself, but this comes from a place of deep concern. I don’t like commenting on the bodies of others. I’ve been a fan of Ariana for over 15 years and I don’t think it’s okay to idly sit by when we see a concerning situation unfolding.

If you actually watched videos of the tour, you would see that she is singing her face off, dancing very well, serving looks in heels that would terrify most people, and genuinely having a fun time doing something she hasn’t done in seven years. Her stage presence & vocal acrobatics have never been better or more controlled.

For what it’s worth, I was in the same room with her a couple times in 2024. She’s built tiny. I’m short for a guy and I was still looking down while talking to her. She may have lower body fat now, but she has always been naturally thin and smaller overall than you’re assuming.

I am big. It’s the REVIVALS that got small.

What a strange, strange thing to be discussing online.

Ariana Grande-Sunday In The Park

If the ticket demand is as high as expected, maybe the delay is so that they can get some sort of program in place to hopefully avoid a system crash. Maybe like Cursed Child did in the beginning.  Or maybe a scheduling conflict came up with one of them and they have to change dates. "Building" a show in the box office can take some time.

I must live in an alternative universe, the one where it is perfect acceptable—and some would say preferable—for fans to not "speak out" about the body of a celebrity because no real relationship between the parties involved actually exists.  That commentary can easily come from family and friends.

Once again. Insulting the intelligence of everyone who sees in plain view that something isn’t right. She may be sick, who knows but to say something isn’t wrong flies in the face of reality and this old song and dance shaming people for expressing concern for an artist they care about is so tired and out of touch.
