Reimagined THE FANTASTICKS will open on Broadway this fall

I have nothing against this lovely show.

But it seems very clear Broadway doesn’t have money.

SCHMIGADOON! Reviews

Feels like it’s been at least 40 years now of “Why is everybody singing?!” Musical theatre jokes.

DEATH BECOMES HER To Close on Broadway June 28, 2026

What a MISS to not have Benanti do this.

SUFFS Proshot Airing May 8 on PBS

A show this solid deserved more money visually. This show in the 90’s would’ve been 10 times more lavish. But wow will every school and college do this show which is fabulous for the future.

You can be certain many history teachers will use this pro shot in class as well

2026 Tony Awards Nominations!

Is Schmigadoon nominated for Best Score another “Pete Townsend for Tommy” argument?

2026 Tony Awards Nominations!

Best Musical feels like a toss up. Am I wrong? All very light fare and the over the top Lost Boys.

I don’t know which way the wind blows.

Encores 2027: You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown; Hallelujah, Baby!; Kiss of the Spider Woman

I just think Lippa really made the original score POP out more.
His additions to the already vocally layered Book Report I really love

Wow. Pretty wild that they are not doing the Lippa additions. It’s a much shorter show and it’s

Patty.

not Peppermint Patty. But- Patty. The random girl in gingham from the early strips.

hmmm

CHESS (2025 Broadway Revival) Reviews

Fine but not dynamic. She sounded more powerful in Funny Girl. Watch that Julia Murney performance. The song is almost over the top and you have to match the melodrama.

Also when the cat fight happens onstage in Act Two. It’s a show stopper.
You never feel like the audience is squirmy during Act Two. They love it cause it plays to live audience sensibilities.

I think part of the charm of the stage show is it knows it’s a little stupid.

“I mean come on Elphie it’s shoes. Let it go.”

That’s why Act Two is pretty fun. It never stops being a joke machine.

Wicked Part One’s only real sins are being way too long and the hatch job on Defying Gravity.

It’s pretty solid and I would bet it’s gonna stay a classic in its own right.

Wicked: For Good very well may fall into obscurity.

A movie people went to see out of obligation instead of interest. Everyone knows Act 2 isnt as good as Act 1, but this time you got to walk away for a year before seeing to confirm that yes... Act 2 is still Mid and you made it longer and added, essentially, nothing to goings on. Same thing they did in the first movie, but again.

Props to Ariana thou. Clearly she deserved the nom (I don’t get the hype over Teyana)

I think to do a Part Two film successfully, they needed to overhaul Act Two and risk alienating the Wicked fans.

Watching it again, it feels so absolutely weak.

There’s almost a tv episode of that ABC fan fictiony fairy tale show “Once Upon a Time” feel to the thing.

It doesn’t spring to life the way the first film did.

It brought forward the structural issues of the stage show in Act Two WAY stronger. They aren’t nearly as glaring when you watch the broadway show cause it moves so fast.

And I really think the new songs are part of what killed it

Bridges of Madison County Reunion Concert

this show has never sold me on why I should care about her infidelity.

The Streep movie understood the sadness at play better so I was able to hear it out more.

This show? I never get enough of why this is need instead of just want.

pretty music though.

New Merrily Pro-Shot reviews

I think this is an “act two is better than act one” show.

Universal's WICKED Films - News & Discussion Thread

It added 77 minutes and Jon M Chu said “why don’t we just make the original hour long act feel much slower and lugubrious?”

Universal's WICKED Films - News & Discussion Thread

For how critical this forum is I’m blown away how many people liked this.

Jon M Chu seemed out of his depth AND the Act Two plot flaws were glaring.

That first film I cared about moments in Wicked that have never moved me all that much.

This one? I was bored

It didn’t even try to find more.

It didn’t grow Elphaba and Glinda. It didn’t grow Elphaba and Fiyero.

What a dead weight disappointment. Wow.<
