The charming musical two-hander is coming to - sing it with me - New Yooooooork...
Previews begin November 1 at the Longacre Theatre, with Sam Tutty and Christiani Pitts reprising their roles from the Cambridge production earlier this year.
Per BWW: "Tickets will go on sale to the general public tomorrow, Wednesday August 13, at 10:00AM ET at Telecharge.com. In celebration of the musical’s Broadway premiere, all seats for 8 select previews in the first two weeks of the Broadway run will be available for $88 or under; purchases must be made by August 20 to receive the special promotional price."

While I always imagined it off broadway, I did find the show charming and I wish it success!

Does anyone have the presale code?
This show was so ridiculously cute and I loved it (and Tutty) in London. It has potential for a cult following for sure, but I doubt (short of marketing the hell out of it) that they are going to fill up the Longacre.
Honestly, if ART and this show switched, I feel like this would be better in the Music Box. (The Broadhurst is out of commission until Spring, to my understanding)

Supposedly, I hear Cats: the Jellicle Ball (which in case anybody forgot, is coming to Broadway this season) wants either the Broadhurst or the Schubert...we will see tho
Another flop for the Longacre then.
Also, we love to see more West End stars getting their due in NYC!
I love the cast recording, I'll scoop up tickets.
I hope this finds an audience but I think it's gonna be a tough sell especially at the flop house that is the Longacre.

Cue a faction of the mob screaming about too many non-Americans on the Broadway stage and “does anyone even CARE about the actors who didn’t get the role?” in 3… 2…

You sure do love to bludgeon a complex subject that should have nuance with a ball-peen hammer.
This is so exciting. This was the sweetest, most charming musical Ive seen in a very long time. Love!
I thought this would go off-bway first then go to Broadway. It’s an intimate production and hopefully this $88 promo will include orchestra seats since the Longacre balcony is not the best.
Hopefully they can do something on the 4th floor lounge of the Longacre.
I’m guessing weekly running costs may not be too high given there are only 2 main actors.
I’m glad Christiani Pitts will be back on Broadway! Loved her in King Kong.

Maybe this is an obvious point but it looks to me like they took whatever they could get. No one opens late November at the Longacre with this kind of small show if they had other options. On the other hand, it is an opportunity because at least they have an option.

I picked around a bit and got one on a Sunday night (11/9) for $88 in the orchestra. It appears that night is one where the entire house is that price (even the balcony).
After those two weeks of special pricing though, everything goes up to an astronomical high that is not going to be sustainable at all, and may as well kill the show by New Year’s. The very low end of the orchestra is $169 and the low end of the balcony (outside of the holidays) is $99. I would really love to know what the budget is for a show that is a two hander with a convertible unit set on a turntable.
I paid £35 for an orchestra aisle seat in London last year and that was on the high end (max was, I think, £55).
Every single seat for the Sunday November 2nd show and both shows on Sunday November 9th are $88. Fantastic deal.

Would someone describe the show in some detail?

I agree with you all - it’s a shame that they couldn’t have taken a smaller house, or an off Broadway space.
That said, I hope this show is well received and finds an audience. It’s charming and funny, Tutty is great, and I love the score. Perhaps an underdog success story like MHE?

Per Michael Paulson in the NYT:
”The show is about a sweet young English cinema usher who flies to New York to attend the second wedding of his estranged father; the bride asks her sister, an American barista, wry by comparison, to pick him up. The two of them spend two days exploring New York, and getting to know each other, before the ceremony.”
