Okay... I'm looking for a musical theatre song (for a VERY important audition) that includes a VERY high belt... and preferably to hold out for a long period of time. That, or a build up to a great note...
examples:
Astonishing- Little Woman
I'm All Grown Up- Bare (I WISH THE SHEET MUSIC WAS OUT FOR THIS!)
Come to your senses- tick tick...boom! (even thats a little low)
**nothing overdone... this is sooo important and I don't randomly find secret musicals that have these amazing pieces... anything will help! thank you!**

The Life of the Party from the Wild Party maybe?

Jesus! It seems like everything is overdone nowadays! There really does need to be a secret vault of songs that people have never sung!
exactly!! I'm suggesting we start one? hahaha
Life of the Party is great, but (this may sound crazy) im actually thinking even higher and stronger. Something that makes them go, Whoa.
I may be asking way too much.. but I know there are some out there....

I Believe in Love maybe? If you take it like Shoshana did and just riff like crazy?
whats that from? I'll look it up!

Hair... check out the Actor's Benefit Recording. Shoshana hits a really really ridiculously high note and riffs almost every note but it might work,

Hehe. My first thought was Astonishing and then Come to Your Senses. Guess I'm not much help.
this is actually for a bunch of college auditions.. like Cincinatti and Carnegie, etc.
I did Astonishing for my last college auditions and it went really well, I'm just scared it will be over done.
Come to your senses is one of my favorite songs of all time, but its not my first choice for these auditions.. I really need to stand out
*thanks so much for these quick replies!*
I'm wondering if you can't get a good cut from 1st Class Roster from Titanic...it's Victoria Clark's song...and she does some crazy ass notes in there...if you know it or can get your hands on a cast recording, her "she must be somebody" line...insane!
all great suggestions so far.. thank you!!!
i also found "A HOME FOR YOU" from Batboy.... good? i dunno.. im making a list
also.. "IS SOMEONE OUT THERE" by Eden Espinosa from In The Beginning- The Maury Yeston songbook

Definitly look into Jane Eyre.
might be overdone, but 'Home' from The Wiz? start towards the end, because the last few bars are insane.

I don't know if Home for You would work... it's really not that high and not a great audition song. Though, that is what they had all the girls sing at the Bat Boy auditions when I did it.
"Is Someone Out There?" would be my pick.

this doesn't really fit in with everyone else's suggestions, and you need to have the right type of voice to sing it, but my first thought was "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going" from Dreamgirls
Something from L5Y? Assuming the pianist can handle it, not sure which song though...
Umm..."Once Upon A Time"?
*dodges flying sporks*
home is overdone and you have to be black to sing anything from Dreamgirls...will come back with suggestions
since you've performed pretty much everything from L5Y...?? What about the song that you did freshman year for juries? That was a good one!
you do noooot have to be black to sing And I am Telling You! If you can pull it off, then totally sing it.
as far as "home" not being that high.. the part at the end where its like.. "like yours, like minnnnneee.. like home!!" eh?

It's around a D. Like many songs performers take the notes up, have you ever seen the actual sheet music from Wicked? Butz and Idina don't sing alot of what was originally intended.
Mama Will Provide
OOTI
Change in Me
BATB
sorry, overdone but still great
good luck!
Maybe "I Can Do Better Than That" from Last 5 Years???
