I really thought the way-too-early 2016 thread was one of the best ones of the year (lots of the nominations / wins spot on, some missed the mark). With that in mind, now that this year's awards are behind us, let us predict some way too early 2017 Tony nominations / wins!

Dear Evan Hansen will at the least get a few noms... Haven't seen anything else coming in. The Front Page looks good though.

Hopefully The Front Page will be great, but you can read the script now (which is excellent) or, even better, watch His Girl Friday, which is one of my favorite movies of all time.

If Ben Platt keeps up his performance, I'd be shocked if he didn't take home Best Actor.

If War Paint comes in next season there may be some competion for Bette Midler from Ebersole and Lupone. I'm sure that Stephanie J. Block won't be forgotten either.
I wonder if Christian Borle will be nominated for both Falsettos and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (which i believe is coming next season.) Ben Platt seems to be the obvious frontrunner however. I'm sure that David Hyde Pierce and Josh Groban will provide some competition.
As for score, The Great Comet is an absolute masterpiece, but apparently the score to Dear Evan Hansen is pretty special. War Paint will probably snag a nomination as well as Come From Away.
I have no clue what will take Best Musical.

Gypsy, I seem to recall talking to you about this in another thread... I find it funny that you went ahead and made the thread.

I did! I mentioned loving this thread last year, and since it lasted us a good 11 months or so, why not have another!

Hello, Dolly!
Miss Saigon

Best Revival: Miss Saigon. Tony owes MS a "best" award. Can't believe the voters gave it to Will Rodgers Follies...
Best New Musical: Dear Evan Hansen, unless something eles pops up and completely blows people away.

The Engineer is ruled as a leading character, at least in 1991's Tony.

I recalled that, but to me he seems more featured...he was nominated in Leading because Jonathan Pryce was credited above the title (although this could happen in the revival too I suppose)

Gypsy, you don't think Singin' In the Rain will capture anything? I haven't heard much about it, but have to think it might be a contender?

You're all forgetting Come From Away which will be a big contender in the musical division. And hopefully The Play That Goes Wrong will make it to Broadway too (sort of announced last year for a 2016 bow) that could pick up Best Play.

This is confusing, even for a speculation thread, because we don't even have a final list of the shows guaranteed to come to Broadway next season.
