Ah! Completely forgot about Benanti and WOMEN ON THE VERGE, so I'm mending my Featured Actress category:
Featured Actress in a Musical
Laura Benanti, WOMEN ON THE VERGE
Tammy Blanchard, HOW TO SUCCEED
Kerry Butler, CATCH ME IF YOU CAN
Victoria Clark, SISTER ACT
Nikki M. James, THE BOOK OF MORMON
You forgot about her and so may the nominators, Benanti's nod depends on the shows coming in.
I think Clark and Butler are the most likely to be sure-shots at noms.
^ Very good point. And yes I'd say that both of them are locks. Clark has a bunch of new material to work with then what was in the London production, hopefully for the better.
Someone do a Featured Actress possibilities list please?
I know it's early but personally, I think it's Butler's year.
In no order:
Kerry Butler, CATCH ME IF YOU CAN
Linda Hart, CATCH ME IF YOU CAN
Rachel DeBenedet, CATCH ME IF YOU CAN
Tammy Blanchard, HOW TO SUCCEED
Mary Farber, HOW TO SUCCEED
Ellen Harvey, HOW TO SUCCEED
Jennifer Damiano, SPIDER-MAN:TURN OFF THE DARK (pending)
T.V. Carpio, SPIDER-MAN: TURN OFF THE DARK (pending)
Nikki M. James, THE BOOK MORMON
Laura Benanti, WOMEN ON THE VERGE
Patti LuPone, WOMEN ON THE VERGE
De'Are Aziza, WOMEN ON THE VERGE
Nikka Graff Lanzarone, WOMEN ON THE VERGE
Maria Elena Ramirez, BLOODY BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON
Kristine Neilsen, BLOODY BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON
Nicole Parker, THE PEOPLE IN THE PICTURE
Victoria Clark, SISTER ACT
Marla Mindelle, SISTER ACT
Laura Osnes, ANYTHING GOES
Jessica Stone, ANYTHING GOES
Jessica Walter, ANYTHING GOES
Kate Shindle, WONDERLAND
Karen Mason, WONDERLAND
and then possibly some of the women from BABY IT'S YOU!
Did I miss anyone?

How can one begin to judge what will be nominated this early in the game? I loved LA BETE but it will be long forgotten come Tony time for Best Revival. Plus we haven't even seen HOUSE OF BLUE LEAVES or BORN YESTERDAY yet. So who know how those will turn out, and if THE NORMAL HEART is really just a staged reading, its chances a nomination drop a lot. This seems like such a waste for a great play. It should get a real production, not a glossy reading.
Several people seem to think Lily Rabe has Best Actress in the bag for what is really a supporting role, not at all. She is certainly a contender and gave a great performance, but Frances McDormand just got huge raves for GOOD PEOPLE and we have yet to see what Edie Falco or Nina Arianda will both do in very high calibur roles that have previously picked up a lot of awards attention.
As far as musicals, I wouldn't count out Priscilla getting a nomination. It's big, fun, very polished, and quite satisfying. I see this getting nomination long before any of the closed musicals, WONDERLAND or SISTER ACT, unless they changed a lot since their prior engagements.
Completely forgot about ELF, thank you CapnHook!
A double nomination for Beth Leavel would be interesting, doubt it'll happen.

What are the chances of Mark Rylance getting a double nom in Leading Actor in a Play? He was fantastic in La Bete, and I hear his performance in Jerusalem is even better...
It's definitely a possibility, but since he's already a sure bet to be nominated for Jerusalem (and because it's a crowded category) I wouldn't be surprised if some nominators wanted to "spread the love."
I'd say Nikki M. James is a pretty sure bet for a featured actress nod. She's the heart of BOOK OF MORMON.
I'd fall over dead if Tammy Blanchard scored a nomination for that travesty of a performance.

I was thinking that too, theatreguy. It seems to me that Lead Actor in a Play is pretty good category this year.

"I'd fall over dead if Tammy Blanchard scored a nomination"
Well, I guess you better start preparing for the grave.
I love Tammy Blanchard. But her performance in HOW TO SUCCEED is....well...let's just say she lands maybe two laughs. I think she's capable of much better in the role too; she just seems to be lacking direction. Same goes for Hanke, who is just annoying. No more, no less.
The Book of Mormon
Catch Me If You Can
Priscilla Queen of the Desert (or Bloody Bloody)
Scottsboro Boys (or Bloody Bloody)
I don't know know much about *The People in the Picture* or *Baby, It's You*. They could change it all and sort of hope they do. I would like to see Andrew Jackson in there. Have not seen Wonderland.
Seen HtoS and seeing Anything goes tomorrow.
