I used to get agrivated about Soundtrack vs. Cast Recording. Now, I don't care, and though I know there's a difference, if I feel like saying Soundtrack in Cast Recording's place, I say it, cause like I said, I don't care.
In a way, it's understandable that when a word/phrase is repeated over and over in a song, people will naturally think thats the title, even if it's not. It can be pretty annoying though, But I thought "Tits and Ass" was a real, acceptable other name for Dance: 10; Looks: 3, but, I guess I see where people are coming from. Mainly I get aggrivated when people mess up RENT titles, because RENT is my baby
I never got the big deal about the cast recording/soundtrack debate. It's nothing big enough to get upset about.

Ditto. i really hate when people confuse Rent songs like when some people call 'seasons of love' '525,600 minutes'. it's gets irritating after a while.
my friend does that sometimes, where she'll hear me sing a song and then some other time she'll just sing a line from it, but she doesn't know the words or tune or anything. And she really only does this with "Wilkommen" and "The Internet Is For Porn" which makes it even more annoying. She doesn't know any of the French words on Wilkommen either, so she just mumbles it. It drives me up the wall.
It really bothers me when someone claims to love the musical... as riceandbeans said... but only knows one song. If you really loved it, you would know most of the words. Yes, you could sit there and memorize words to thousands of musicals... but why would you do that if it wasn't fun for you? I only know the words and songs of the musicals I really enjoy listening to numerous times... otherwise, it's a chore and a waste of time.

Oh I just hate it when singing songs with my friends from musicals that i love and they hardly know and they think i messed up a word cause all this time they thought it was something else!arg they dont even believe me when i show them the lyrics!
it used to disturb me more when folks were saying they were going to see THE CHORUS LINE.
*shudders*

I felt the same way when going to a record store and seeing "A Chorus Line" alphabatized in the A section. That's a pet peeve of mine, as I am anal about alphabatizations...

Oh my god, so we're all agreed that RENT is the most misquoted show ever. I hate when people call the opening song, "December 20-whatever 19-whatever." I hate that.
And I hate when people call musicals plays.
And I hate when mentally challenged people *cough wishIhadaweenie* don't recognize sarcasm. And I hate when people *cough* at the theater. And I hate when people don't spell it theatre.

That's a bit extreme, considering both 'theater' and 'theatre' are acceptable in the American English language.
yes I agree...
You can use either and it would not be incorrect... and you yourself used it too, unless that was on purpose
I also hate it when people call musicals, "plays"
And It when my friends claim to know/love a musical... and they dont' remember the name or any of the songs

I always just thought of it as "theatRE" is what goes inside a "theatER".
Haha i agree with every thing that has been said, but....
my buddha are we stuck up or what?! i mean think about it...."I hate it when people dont know the words." haha, im not bashin any of ya, cuz im the same way, its just really funny. my friend's dad said that those people who get so pissed off cuz the harry potter movies are not like the books are just trying to prove they know more than everyone else who sees the movie cuz they know every little detail of the book, when in actuality its an amazing movie.
This can sorta be taken the same way, but i dont care...i didnt particularly care for the 3rd hp movie, and i love the books, and i get annoyed when people sing things wrong.
I just sorta see it all the same way. haha

To get off the Broadway topic to reply to boats...
HPSS and HPCoS actually had some similarities with the books. Prisoner of Azkaban, my fav book, was a dissapointment to say the least. Several of the major events were left out, and other major event occured at different points in the story. It was still a good movie, I was just peeved at how much it had been messed around with. (and Im not trying to be all haha I know more HP than you, I just was really bored three summers ago and read books 1-3 non-stop. I think I got to around 12 times each before I found myself a life)
Back to Broadway if you please...
I'm not really bothered by this. I know when I get a CD (of any kind) I put it in my car CD player, so I never see the names of songs unless I stare at the CD booklet.
However, I don't pretend to know the names of the songs. I'll say, I'm not sure the one that goes like this (insert most popular/repeated line from the song).
