Well according a rumor mill, if the Drowsy closes, A Tale of Two Cities has it eye on that theatre, however I am not sure how true this is.

Wow! So many empty theatres, so many unemployed (aspiring) performers... I hope to see these theatres filled with shows in the coming season.

In the Heights would die a painful death at the Imperial.

In the Heights couldn't fill up a 200 seat off-Broadway theater. It'll fill the Imperial?

First off, if Broadway In Bryant Park was any indication of In The Heights success, they are in for a very nice run. When all three preceding shows were introduced, there was maybe a smattering of applause. When the host introduced In The Heights, the audience went crazy.

I think the off-bway show might have been more successful filling the seats if A) the theater wasn't in the middle of the worst part of mid-town and B) it wasn't on the edge of the earth aka 10th Avenue. Who wants to walk all the way out there! Lordy.

I much prefer to trust the audiences that venture out to see no theater at all then those who take their lunch break to sit in the blazing sun and watch shows. Hmmmm.

I loved In "The Heights" and it was sold out the fay I saw it this past March. The show will do well in the Rodgers, the Imperial is way too large.

Broadway (according to Variety) is actually having a housing crunch. Theatres don't stay dark for very long.

What happens is that a theatre is booked for a show to open on "X" day for previews. Behind the scenes, the sets are being designed, casting, and rehersals get underway etc.

These theatres will all have shows opening, once the new season gears up (in the fall).

According to recent grosses, the Rodgers has around 1,319 seats. The Imperial has 1,435 seats, so they really are not too far off from each other in seating capacity.

Also, TOP GIRLS is set to open in May at the Biltmore.

Pardon my naivety, but regarding the prospective shows that have been named; TREASURE ISLAND, A TALE OF TWO CITIES -- are these plays, musicals, new works, revivals?

I believe A Tale of Two Cities is a new musical. When I attended the Broadway Festival two years ago a guy performed one of the songs from the score and said "See you on Broadway this fall". Like I said, that was two years ago so I'm sure there have been revisions ect.
