Interesting. The program at Tuesday’s performance listed Persephone as MARIA-CHRISTINA OLIVERAS. Maybe that explains why we got the understudy (who was excellent) if MCO has left the show and Lana Gordon hasn’t started performances yet…

From what I understand, MCO sustained an injury very shortly after her first performance a few weeks ago. They called in Shea Renne to cover for her at the end of the Houston, and the first week of St. Louis. MCO was supposed to return during the second week in StL but I guess she was not able to.
Lana posted she was at Chicago(Broadway) the other day, so I guess she hasn't left yet and the u/s will cover until she arrives. A shame MCO is injured after just starting the role last week and will probably be out for a prolonged period.

Oops! I meant Thursday!"
Any understudies tonight?

Sorry for the late reply! Yes- Jordan Bollwerk was on Thursday and truly wonderful as Orpheus. Lana Gordon was a surprise to me, but I actually preferred Lindsay Hailes' voice. (Tonight-(Saturday) will be Jordan again. Tomorrow (Sunday)will be J. Antonio Rodriguez again.

Saw this last night and think it's in tremendous shape. I saw the OBC pre-pandemic and was expected to be let down by the tour, but I was blown away by this cast. I didn't think someone could hold an audience's attention and tell this story in the magical way of Andre De Sheilds, but Nathan Lee Graham was superb. I'm someone who loved Reeve, but I think Chibueze Ihuoma might be better in this role. I also think I prefer Hannah Whitley's Eurydice. Finally, I'm in love with Lana Gordon and her energy in this role. Too bad the rest of this run is sold out in Nashville or I would go back multiple times.
On tour, do they swing out over the audience, like I've heard they do on Broadway?

I saw Hadestown in Nashville this week, with Lana as Persephone, and man did we get lucky. She was amazing. The whole cast was on fire. The best touring cast I've seen in a long time. Did not disappoint. The whole crowd was going wild all night. I haven't seen the broadway version, but the doors that open in the back of the set (instead of the elevator) were extremely dramatic and effective.

Depends on each theater’s setup and how far the first few rows are from the front of the stage.
With Lana back on Broadway with Chicago, anyone know who Persephone is?

According to the website, Lindsey Hailes is Persephone. I looked at Maria-Christina Oliveras’ Instagram and she hasn’t posted anything about leaving or rejoining the tour

Lindsey Hailes has indeed taken over as Persephone on the tour. Not sure what happened with Maria, but she’s not rejoining.
Looks like they added a few additional swings that are probably rotating as "workers", too. Maybe after their Christmas break, they'll solidify the cast? Their website only lists three actors as "Workers".

Lindsey is absolutely amazing as Persephone. I can’t believe she just joined the cast. She’s a force of nature. I’m so glad I got to see her in Miami.

She's been with the tour since it relaunched in Oct. 2021. She was just recently bumped up to Persephone full-time after always covering the role.

That makes sense about the new swings, they’ve been doing a number of performances with just the 3 workers which looks a bit strange since the road houses are bigger than the Kerr. I wonder why there has been so much shakeup with this second leg of the tour.

Since I'm seeing the tour very soon I was checking the website and saw the incredible Brit West is now playing Persephone. Lindsey Hailes is now playing a Worker.
I'll be sure to report back about the new-ish tour cast. I'm very excited to see the show

Lana is back as Persephone on the tour for two weeks while Brit West is on vacation. I believe she's returning to Chicago on April 10.

Chibueze Ihuoma (Orpheus) will be departing on April 9th. J. Antonio Rodriguez, who currently understudies the role, is taking over full-time. Lana is still in the show this week as well, seems that she stayed longer than the 2 weeks that were planned?
Maria-Christina Oliveras has a note on her website re: Hadestown: “MCO is currently on hiatus, and will be returning in early April 2023.” Curious if she’ll be returning once Lana goes back to Chicago.

I posted this in another thread but it’s worth reposting here that Brit West is joining the Broadway company in some capacity.
I heard that Maria-Christina Oliveras is finally returning as the permanent Persephone.
Lana's not returning to Chicago after all. Maybe Lana replaces Jewelle once she leaves in June?

Hadestown is in Cincinnati this week and next, with Lana playing Persephone the first week and Maria-Christina Oliveras the second week.
I saw Lana twice this week, she was phenomenal. I'll be going back next weekend and will hopefully catch Maria-Christina as well
The whole tour cast is great. J. Antonio Rodriguez just took over as Orpheus a few weeks ago, and he's amazing.
The tour plays Vancouver in a couple weeks. I wasn't going to go as I saw this in NY in 2019 & felt once was enough, but then I saw they had tickets for $52 including fees - that's under $40US.
