I keep forgetting about that possibility... cast recording!
Now what would you say if today I started over?
Without a thing but this taped together four leaf clover
And I'll pretend like everything is already alright
And I'll run toward the sun till the castle's out of sight
I am a big fan of Bernadette Peters, but I don't think that "Gypsy" was a good choice for her. I saw the production, and I didn't like her in the role at all. It doesn't take anything away from her; she's still a huge talent, just a bad choice. LOVED Lupone as Mama Rose along with Benanti and Gaines....great casting!!!

What's the need for another "Gypsy" revival now? Yes, it's a great show, but it has never had wide appeal. Is there really a need for a fifth cast recording? This revival has the smell of a Vanity Production.
As for the possible West Side Story revival, Mr. Laurents' book need major refreshing. Fifty years later, it's the weakest part of the show. Bernstein's music still sound fresh.
Am I the only person here who is not excited about this revival at all? It is too early. But I'm sort of biased...seeing as how I am not a Lupone fan at all!
This is all my personal opinion...but I probably will only be seeing this show just so I can compare Lupone and Benanti and the rest of the cast to their competition come Tony time.
"Somethin's comin', I don't know what it is but it is gonna be great!"
So closing night should be four weeks after opening, yes?
But the highlight of next year is watching LuPone not winning the Tony, she is so badly hoping for!
Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist.
Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino.
This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more.

I saw the Encores! production twice, obviously loving it, but I really don't see the need for this revival. It was great as a 3.5 week thing in the summer, but I fail to see how this will sell tickets. I will see it once more just to hopefully see Benanti again, as she was the best part of the production, but thats it.
So thrilled for this and for Benanti's chances at a Tony. Don't be bothered by BobbyBubby. He loves to p*ss all over anyone who disagrees with him. He gets to be negative about shows he doesn't like and gets to be rude to people who dislike shows that he likes. Just check out any YF threads.
Am I the only person here who is not excited about this revival at all?
Nope. I've been saying that since the rumors first started. It's way too soon. Unless the production is non-profit, investors will have to reconcile themselves with the fact that they will never get a penny back. A few Gypsy/LuPone fanatics will be excited, but that's about it.
The only three things this revival has going for it so far are the cast (though I would prefer to see them in something else), no actor/musicians (except Mazeppa) and the fact that it's not Follies. Though I'm afraid that's not going to be enough to make it successful. This will take a miracle.
