Then so is my high school production of Our Town (our command performance at the nursing home was a real hit!)

But seriously, that's like saying a co-pro between CLO and The Maltz is a tour.

In the context of this thread, that 9-performance local run of Les Mis is not a tour. Updated On: 2/12/15 at 03:16 PM

Agree. I'd call that a shared regional production, not a proper tour.

Cameron wouldn't sign off on a non-eq tour just yet. That thing's still got lots in it. Plus I believe he's planning on returning the new production to the road when it eventually wraps on Broadway.

The Curran is no longer affiliated with SHN - yes, it is undergoing renovations, but not with the SHN name attached. Carole Shorenstein Hayes owns it.

Geez, I never said it was affiliated with Cameron or the broadway production. I called it a regional tour (playing more than one venue.) produced by a regional theatre. And it is even included with a season subscription. It happens all of the time.

I just saw the MEMPHIS tour at the Fox PAC in Riverside, CA.

Does anyone know whether this Prather tour is Equity or not?

^ If it is Prather, I believe it is non-equity. I could be wrong, though.

the Curran is a jewel of a theatre and in the best location by far of the three SHN theatres (orpheum and golden gate), only two blocks from center of union square and close to many nice restaurants. Golden Gate Theatre is heart of the tenderloin(junkies, homeless) and you NEVER want to park and walk (have an uber or taxi drop you and pick you up in front). Orpheum is just two blocks from city hall, although still a bit dodgy neighborhood with not many good restarants close by. Its literally right at a bart station so easy access to public transportation.

Curran is the smallest of the three 1667 seat capacity vs 2203 at orpheum and 2297 at
golden gate, so maybe they will see how to add more seats if they can within code...

It's pretty rare for there to be two competing groups for national tours in most cities, and SF only has 900K residents, so even the SHN really relies on people coming from north, south and east bay + some of the 6 million tourists that come every year. Carole's passion is much more for plays than musicals(she's won six tonys and two pulitzer prizes I believe as a producer, and all are plays) so it seems highly unlikely she would host a competing venue with her former partners for musicals...

will miss the curran during its makeover and keep my money in my sock for shows at the golden gate.....

the Memphis tour is non-equity.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

I wonder if the Pippin tour will continue into 2016. I haven't seen any dates for the tour into 2016 yet.

Pippin plays San Jose in January 2016, and I'm sure more dates will be announced soon as seasons are revealed.

I'm really disappointed with Louisville's new season. Motown and Beauty and the Beast are garbage (plus B&B was here like 2 years ago). Phantom and Dirty Dancing are meh. I'm really only excited for Cabaret and Wicked. Really wanted some new tours this year.

Ahmanson will be doing Sound of Music. The Kennedy Center production of Little Dancer is being rumored.

"It does what a musical is supposed to do; it takes you to another world. And it gives you a little tune to carry in your head. Something to take you away from the dreary horrors of the real world. A little something for when you're feeling blue. You know?"
