How's the view from the balcony in this theater? My wife is not a big fan of heights and I see its only 2 rows, but I like the price of $42 per ticket. I just see no posts about them anywhere.
The view is fine. However, you lose all semblance of the physical comedy and the facial expressions. When I sat up there, the balcony definitely was enjoying the show less than the rest of the theater.
I agree that you lose some of the facial expressions, etc. because you are pretty far away. But just for the record, I don't think anyone enjoyed the show more sitting anywhere else in the theater than I did sitting in those seats.
That said, if you wife is not fond of heights, these are probably not the seats for you. Besides the fact you have three flights of stairs to walk up, you definitely feel you are high up sitting in them..and even have to tilt forward a little to see the entire front of the stage.
The seats are cheap for a reason. They're not great. You do lose a lot. It is a very enjoyable show and definitely worth splurging for orchestra. Also, I'm not a fan of heights, and the pic above sends a shiver up my spine. I thought balcony for Matilda was bad!
I won't sit in the balcony of that theater ever again. It pitches forward and is about 2" from the ceiling. And if the sound system isn't quite right, you can't hear at all. You also can't see (and when I sat there I kept feeling dizzy).
I sat in the second row (of two) in the balcony, and I didn't know there were projections until talking with friends about the show later. Sound design also doesn't translate up there. That said, it's worth it to get in the theatre and see the show at all, and if that is your only option, you should go for it.
