How is the first row? Did you notice any flashing lights at any point? My tickets for April (if they don't get canceled) are in Row A.

Can't recall whether there were flashing lights or not, but I found the first row to be great! The stage is not raised very high, so I had a great view of everything, including the tears forming in Lin-Manuel's eyes.

re; Student ticketing. The Public has always done advance student ticketing based on availability. I bought my student ticket for this months ago. At this point you either have to win the lotto to get in or buy a ticket on the secondary market.

Did anyone happen to do the in-person lottery last night at the Public? With Lin-Manuel's understudy going on for him, plus the Oscars telecast happening at the same time, I was wondering if fewer people showed up. Was anyone there?

Re: student advance

Yes they had them but when the show is sold there are no more. If you wanted them you had to be on the ball. Gone now.

Can't locate the info on lottery timing: Are names submitted 2 and a half hours before curtain and then drawn a half-hour later? Thanks.

UPDATE: Was just so informed; don't see how to delete post.

^^^ The above information is correct for evening shows. For matinees, names are submitted starting an hour and a half before curtain, and drawn a half hour later.

If this announces a Broadway transfer today, do you think they'd change the rush policy?

Does anyone know this: at what time do they start the waiting list for tickets on days when there is only an evening show? I've been there on Saturdays in the daytime, they started taking names for the list at 1. This is for full- price cancellations only.

($20 Lottery is a separate thing. On 2 Saturdays and a Sunday, about 200 people each day for matinee tix.6 to 10 dustributed to winners. )

Does anyone know if the $20 lottery is inside or outside?

The lottery at the Public Theater is inside their large lobby.

Have tried the lottery 8 times now at the public, and one thing that surprised me is they don't have some sort of Matilda policy about repeat winners (at Matilda the same person cannot win twice within 30 days) One man who won last time I went said it was his 5th time winning.

That's interesting. How does Matilda monitor repeat winners? I think the Hamilton Today Tix lottery limits repeat winners. Yesterday tried both Hamilton lotteries and both Curious Incident lotteries and lost all 4.

For Matilda they keep a list of all the winners from the past 30 days on hand at lottery, and they check the list before everyone goes in to get tickets. Never takes very long, as they have two people normally at lotto so one person starts checking for names as soon as they are pulled.

What time do sign up's begin for the in person lottery?  On the website it says 11:30am with the drawing being at 12pm, but some times they have a 1pm matinee and a 2pm matinee....it seems the drawings are 2hrs before curtain, but if the show is at 1pm then I would think they would draw at 11am.

I entered for Wednesday's lottery which had a 1pm curtain and the lottery was from 11:30-12:00pm. They gave 14 lottery tickets that day; I didn't win. There seemed to be about 70 people there.

I won about a month ago on a Tuesday night... they gave away 12 tickets and there were about 125 people there per my count. Not bad odds...

Matinee lottery still pulls 1hr before curtain. The lottery for night shows is still5:30-6, despite the earlier cutain times.
