Wife's favorite actor going to be in the May 15 "Musical Masterworks" at Lincoln Center (The Music of Steven Schwartz). Anyone going? I wonder what he'll sing....
Haven't noticed Raul being in anything lately (I'm assuming due to his TV commitments)....
We have lost him to Network Television. He has drunk from the vine of NBC Money, and from that road ne'er a traveller returns. Adieu, sweet Raul. I shall watch SVU and pray for you.
Broadway hasn't been particularly kind to him; his longest running gig (opening a show) was that lukewarm Rocky Horror revival (and he left that early to start Taboo). Apart from that, the three new works he was in averaged little more than 100 performances each. His four revivals have fared little better. He has never opened a hit; his most secure gig was a replacement MC in Cabaret. TV is probably much sweeter to him (more money, more fame, fewer hours).
SVU is probably not in danger of not getting renewed, but the writers strike, if it happens, could impact their schedule. They have already wrapped Season 18.
For the rest: speculation is just the BEST, isn't it?
The schedule for a show like Younger is less limiting than for a show like SVU -- and not to mention the few years where he was on SVU and Hannibal, which shot in different countries at the same time. But I'm pretty confident in my belief that he's not done with theater.
Oh me too!!! willing him back to ANYTHING on Broadway....I just love him! Saw both Taboo and Chitty, and Leap of Faith in LA. Some performances better than others - but I'm still and always will be a fan. :)
I'm planning on going to the gala on May 15 but galas are frustrating because they involve one, maybe two, songs and participation in some kind of a finale. And lots of blah, blah, blah. Still - better than nothing.
I loved meeting Raul when we were taping the two performances of "Company" that were eventually released on DVD and Blu-ray. He couldn't have been nicer...
