Considering that Carousel just ended and Laura's run is limited do you think there's any possibility that Jessie would step into the role of Eliza? She's said before it's one of her dream roles!
I think it will close with Laura. I would love for the next Lincoln center production to be Funny girl with Jessie Mueller or my dream cast that I dont think would happen, but Jessie Mueller as Cinderella in into the woods at Lincoln Center.
edit: yes I know she played cinderella already, I just meant on broadway :)

^ can we please just get that entire 2012 into the woods open air cast in a broadway production??

The 2012 Into the Woods seemed perfect on paper, but it was really not good on stage. It reminds me a lot of this Carousel revival. Something just went wrong. I think most of the blame falls on Denis O'Hare, who gave the most embarrassingly awful performance I've ever seen. His portrayal of The Baker really hurt the show.
I'd love to see her do My Fair Lady, but I'd rather see her in a Rudin produced Funny Girl at the Shubert directed by George C. Wolfe with the creative team of Hello, Dolly! Maybe throw in Bobby Cannavale as Nick Arnstein.
The way the box office is going, My Fair Lady looks like it may resemble King and I (15 months) more than South Pacific (2 years). This was I think the last performance of Lauren and Harry and good seats were available all day.
LCT has started offering $99 orchestra seats in the rear wings. As much as an aging guy would like to believe that the Golden shows were the best and anyone seeing them would fall in love, lots of current theater goers grow up not familiar with them and their music anymore. They prefer something contemporary like Mean Girls and Wicked (and Wicked and Wicked).
If the box office is seen as faltering, perhaps Laura could be the first to portray a new Eliza. Playing for more laughs, perhaps with a touch of bawdiness. Or maybe not.

That'll kill this production in less than a month.
Teenage stans make no difference in a show's success. I know people will try to give me examples of times they've helped, but they didn't help Great Comet or Spongebob. I think Soo would be good, but if ticket sales are what their looking for, I wouldn't look to her.
I know this is kind of off-the-rails, but since someone mentioned MFL closing with Benanti, it reinforces my theory of a Hadestown transfer to the Beaumont. The Olivier Theater at The National in London is the exact same thrust/round shape as the Beaumont, and it would make the most (only?) sense, unless Chavkin & co. redesign/stage the show for the FOURTH time.
1. I don't think show NOT produced by LCT can be expected to play The Vivian Beaumont. (But never say never, right?)
2. Isn't the London run being touted as the pre-cursor to B'way?
3. I don't think it's that hard to go from a thrust to a more traditional proscenium.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
