I don't disagree with wanting this production to play longer, but as a lifelong Sondheim devotee, I've adjusted my expectations of what qualifies as a successful commercial run for his shows.
While they still may not make money, I'm thrilled whenever we get a year-long run of a quality Sondheim production.
I remember seeing the Cerveris/LuPone Sweeney production multiple times during its 350+ performances run and was giddy about being able to do so.

Lmao yes because it’s our decision on how much longer a show stays open. As previously stated on numerous threads, there are shows in the wings “chomping at the bits” to get into a theater. It was time for the show to close. Get hyped for the national tour!!

I LOVE Katrina in the show, but they probably needed to star cast the lead role. I think theater people were super thrilled and excited about this but it didn't grab the attention of the tourists and the normies.
I think a Groban Sweeney would do amazing. He's a name, the show is a name, and it's big with the theater people too.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

Company's Facebook page advertised Jeff playing David today which is how I noticed it.

Saw the show again today and have to agree that Katrina has grown marvelously in the role but Matt Doyle is even even funnier and more touching. Jeff Kready was excellent.

Well, the final performance of Company has been practically sold out since soon after they announced, and Beanie's final performance is barely sold. There's no way in hell that anyone who already has tickets for Company will bail to see Funny Girl instead. It's not a Sophie's Choice.

I wasn't referring to anyone who already bought a ticket to 'Company', I was referring to those who are making a decision and have the choice to see either one. There are still tickets left for 'Company' from what I can see on the ticket site. So choices are still available.

I personally think anyone who has been to a closing performance of a major Sondheim production will tell you it is a very special night (I remember going to the last performance of Company in the West End with Sondheim in attendance and it was a night to remember. Even Rosalie Craig broke the 4th wall a little stamping that '35' balloon to death in a kind of emotional catharsis moment). I can only imagine how exciting the closing Broadway performance will be.
The only people I can see opting to go and see Beanie instead will be those that can't afford some of the few remaining premium seats available for the Company closing performance or ultra die hard fans of Beanie. Otherwise, I suspect the kind of people that go to the closing performance of 'Company' (i.e. those that care about the art) will be much more interested to see how Julie Benko develops in role throughout her summer run or see Lea Michele in the role.

There are 30 seats left for Company's final show and hundreds left for Funny Girl. I doubt that the people who haven't already bought for Company and end up spending $299-329 for it even have Beanie's last show on their radar, so it really won't be a choice between just those two shows. The question is kind of pointless.

Just wanted to echo the love for Bobby Conte. Sometime between my first viewing in Jan and my second viewing in June, his number turned into a showstopper. That song is actually what annoys me most about not getting a cast album -- the 2018 London version of that song is just eh.
