Yes, the revival of Nine was also wonderful. And I must say that the current revival of Fiddler has a beautiful and artistically superb set.

My favorite set was John Lee Beatty's valentine of a old boathouse in Lanford Wilson's Talley's Folly.

I thought the black and white vs color aspects of the City of Angels set was interesting.

The set I saw for the high school production of Les Mis was good.

I saw a very interesting set of "Crumbs from the Table of Joy" in Virginia...it was functional, yet fancy.

Oh, and RENT's set was fascinatingly quirky. It was really a vital peice of the show. It shouldve won the Tony for 96 (I believe thats the correct year).

The Assassins set was very intriguing, with the carnival theme and the spaces in the back for the assassins to sit when there part was over. The staircase was amazing also.

Yes, the Into the Woods revival!
La Boheme
The set for Sweeney Todd tour (the one on DVD)
I like Caroline, Or Change's set a lot.
The Producer's is very clever.
Nine was very pretty.
Phantom of the Opera is quite lavish.
Hairspray is very colorful.
Aida was quite pretty, too.

I like 'em all!

I loved the Into The Woods revival's sets. The woods looked so inviting.
I liked the way that Aida used shapes and patterns to suggest settings.

I adored the Assassins set (big suprise). I loved how it was simple and how the lights lined the wood...and the different levels. Boy, do I miss that show.

I also loved the Millie backdrop. It was the first thing I thought when the curtain went up. I LOVE cityscapes.

As far as innovative and artistic marriage of authorship and design, I'd go with DEATH OF A SALESMAN.

For spectacle, I'd vote for SUNSET BOULEVARD.
