I am helping organise Gay pride concert at my performing arts college, i wanted to sing in the concert, but I'll need the backing or the score, and i was wondering if you had any ideas for me!?
I mentioned score and backing because I know it isnt available for Bare yet, and i really wanted to do Role of A Lifetime.....
I was thinking of, Taboo, Zanna Don't, New Brain, Closer Than Heaven......just worried about obtaining the score or backing!
If anyone has a backing track of a suitable song i would worship you for it!
Thanks,
Xx

You should look into "Falsettoland". I forget the name of the song Marvin sings to Whizzer while lying in bed... "What more can I Say" maybe... but it's beautiful.
Eltico, Falsettoland was my thought as well. Some lovely songs in that score. (albeit some rather sad songs)
"What More Can I Say" // "What Would I do If I Had Not Met You"
What More Can I Say is one of the most beautiful love songs ever written. It was my first thought as well.

I don't know if it is MEANT to be a gay-themed song, but you could sing "I Chose Right" from BABY. I did this cabaret where a man sang it, and his partner would come see the show every night and he would be onstage looking at and singing directly to his partner... it was so sweet! They would both be holding back tears and... oh, so adorable! Great song, too.

I Am Who I Am from La Cage? (or the Act 1 finale, I think that's the title)
Role of a Lifetime would be perfect, tho. Maybe write to the composer, explaining why you need it? Seems like a good cause.
As gay as I may be, I would never set foot in an event like this though I may be able to help. How about something from A Chorus Line or Sunshine from Chicago? Barabara Streisand?
All the music I despise would probably be perfect. lol

Almost any song can be a gay song.
For instance: We Kiss In A Shadow from The King And I is written as a duet between a man and a woman, but if sung by two men it can be devastating. "Behold and believe what you see. Behold how my lover loves me."
It was written by two very straight men.
Think outside the box.
Are we forgetting "Keep It Gay" from The Producers?
i think there is a couple of them in kiss of the spider woman

bjive- thats what i was thinking.
also, counldn't "take me for what i am" be sung by 2 males?
Why is there so much gay music on Broadway? That's so gay.
Everyone who made this mistake needs to go to the blackboard and write 1000 times:
I Am WHAT I Am
I Am WHAT I Am
I Am WHAT I Am
Jwaa, if you have an accompanist, I can get you the sheet music to "Role of a Lifetime".
Gayism on Broadway has gotten a little out of hand I think.
Not defensive at all:
How so?

How is "Real Life" a gay song? Excuse me if I'm being stupid.

While certainly not a 'gay' song, with something like this as an intro:
"We all have fallen for someone, and often times, it doesn't work out. For any number of reasons, it's just not meant to be.
There are times we have some control over it, if it's a matter of distance, we can move closer, if it's something physical, we can strive for change, if he's in another relationship, there's a chance he might want you more, if you're not "their type" you could win them over with personality or humor." But sometimes, it's Not about you. And, though it hurts and feels helpless, there's NOTHING you can do about it....
"I'm Not That Girl" from Wicked
Translation: It' SUCKS when you fall for a straight guy
