Hiiiiiiiiiiineseeeeee!
Michael McKean.
McKean to Play Hines
and more cast announced as well.
Peter Benson as Prez; Joyce Chittick as Mae; Michael McCormick as Pop; Richard Poe as Hasler; and Roz Ryan as Mabel.
Bridget Berger, Stephen Berger, Kate Chapman, Paula Leggett Chase, Jennifer Cody, David Eggers, Michael O’Donnell, Vince Pesce, Devin Richards, Jeffrey Schecter, Amber Stone and Debra Walton round out the cast.
No Gladys yet? (The Carole Haney part?)
EDIT: I was kinda hoping Hines would be Dick Latessa. SO perfect for that role.
You'll pardon my ignorance, but... WHO?
'I'm a time study man....and a time study man can't waste time.'
God what a great role, and the perfect person for it. I had so much fun with this role years ago.....
i don't know who she is either...but her previous bway credits include Les Mis and Urinetown.
Okay... well congratulations, Megan!!!
"Gladys" can potentially steal the entire show away from the leads. It's a killer singer/dancer/comedienne role, with not one but TWO show-stopping numbers, plus other songs and scenes as well. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
EDIT: I'm amazed they didn't cast a veteran for this part. Ziemba, D'Amboise, and others would have kicked butt in it.
So, I suppose I am the only person who is completely underwhelmed by the prospect of watching Harry Connick,Jr. play Sid?
Nope, you ain't alone.
Sid is a wooden part to begin with, so he's already fighting an up-hill battle. I'm sure they're hoping he'll melt the audience when he sings "Hey There," and five bucks says he takes his shirt off several times during the show.
I know Megan Lawrence can sing (she's on the Urinetown cast recording, for those who may want a refresher on who she is), but I've never seen her dance, so I'm interested to see how well she fares with Steam Heat.
The rest of the cast looks interesting. Lots of Kathleen Marhshall regulars there. I'm really excited that Joyce Chittick has a semi-featured role in this production! It's about time.
Holy crap.
Roz Ryan and Joyce Chittick, this is great. I'm not familar with this show - did they get good parts, will they have a lot of stage time?
Most of this cast is Great. Joyce Chittick, whom I love, doesn't seem totally right for Mae. Mae should be a big girl who isn't classically sexy. Joyce would, in my opinion, be more appropriate for Poopsie, which, my guess is, is being played by Jen Cody.

Ziemba played Gladys in the NYCO production way back in 1990 (she was the alternate for Lenora Nemetz). She played Babe in the Encores production a few years ago. I doubt she'd want to go back to playing Gladys.
It's a moot point since they didn't bother to ask her.

Wasn't Michael McKean just in BOSTON LEGAL this week playing a husband who had an affair with a cow?
Very funny stuff, very funny guy....
Looking forward to this production.

YES! I have no idea who Joyce Chittick is, but she has an awesome name, haha

Megan Lawrence played Lucetta in this summer's NYSF production of Two Gentlemen of Verona: The Musical and stopped the show every night with "Land of Betrayal". She'll be a sublime Gladys.
Harry Connick has a big fan base that became even more dedicated after seeing he became the face of New Orleans on the Today show after Hurricane Katrina, giving emotional reports from the flooded streets.
I actually think he's going to be good in it, and he will certainly bring in the tourists who throng each morning outside the Today show studio at Rockefeller Center
Michael McKean as Hines?
Woohoo!
Being a Christopher Guest fanatic, I am thrilled!!!
