OK - this is for the fans of Woman in White
since we're losing both productions, and there hasn't been a new CD made of the Broadway cast, I sent the following email today hoping they would consider filming the Broadway production (like they did BY Jeeves in Canada) so we would at least have that for posterity's sake.
Here's my email. Maybe if enough people on this Board who do like this show let their feelings known they would consider this before it's too late:
To Whom It May Concern:
I have to tell you how saddened I am to hear that The Woman in White will be closing in London and New York. I saw it on Broadway during previews a week before it opened and was so happy to see something that was original, and groundbreaking in theatre after and endless run of musical comedy, and "jukebox musicals."
Considering that the Broadway cast never was able to record the score for CD taking the alterations to story and score that have been made, and the sudden closing of this show on both sides of the Atlantic, would Really Useful Company consider filming the show (in the way that you filmed By Jeeves right after it closed in Canada)? It would allow the fans to have Maria Friedman's and the rest of this wonderful cast's performances captured vocally and visually.
Sincerely,
The show is actually filmed every night - in the house ( I don't know if it is saved or not though)! Please PM me! I would love the show to be filmed, I'll give you my other email there!

I think it's a good idea you did that, maybe they could consider it, and, because of all recent events, this one doesn't seem naive.
I would like to own something like that.

I am sure they taped for the Archives @ Lincoln Center...
I would love it if the show was filmed. This is one show that should never be lost in the archives of Broadway history. PM me once you get your response.
If you think it's a good idea, make sure you drop them an email as well:

Almost Famous, what do you mean the show is filmed every night? I saw the show a few times in December, and there was no filming going on at all.
I understand it has been filmed for the LC Archives just recently.
They should have never closed LA CAGE.
I saw Woman in White, the cast is exceptional and I will never diss Ron Bohmer but it was one of the worst shows I have ever had to sit through. If it were not for the special effects I would have left in intermission.
Bring back LA CAGE.
I miss the great chorus boys.
The special effects people deserve an award. It was so captivating and made the story look like **** in comparison.

The night they filmed it for the archives Michael Ball was not in so that wonderful performance is lost forever. A shame really
I hope Ron Bohmer returns to Forbidden Broadway.
"I hope Ron Bohmer returns to Forbidden Broadway."
Yes, I somehow think he hopes different.
actually, it was filmed for Lincoln Center Archives today.

I've seen numerous clips with Michael Ball as Fosco. So wouldn't that mean that his performance was videorecorded?
A feature film would seriously rock, but I don't see that happening with "Phantom" losing so much at the box office.
When is it closing exactly? Do we know a date yet?

Every show is filmed ever night by the house camera and is played backstage and for the musicians. Just one stage shot
I'm sorry but I really beg to differ. I LOVE this show and would love to see it filmed. However, I saw it in London with Maria and Michael and I have also seen it with Ruthie. Michael is indeed the best Fosco and altho Maria did originate the role, Ruthie was a much better Marion! So I would much prefer to see her in the role! She was AMAZING!
OK - not talking about the Lincoln Center Recording... I'm talking about a recording for us "masses" ala/ Sondheim's Passion - or ALW's BY JEEVES

Where's Bryan when you need him?
Oh, sorry, I mean "bryan."

I think Ruthie already left the London production.
Our best shot is to get the original Marion of the london and Bway productions - and the original cast of the Broadway.
Also - sales of the DVD could help investors make some of their startup costs back.
If anyone gets a message - post it here. For some reason, I never get a response from Really Useful the few times I've emailed (shocking...)
