Hey all... I got two free tickets to an advanced screening for DREAMGIRLS this wednesday in Washington D.C. Unfortunately, my wife cant go anymore.
Anyone interested in tagging along?
no one? ok... i guess it'll just be me then. :)
I just sent you a PM.
It's not just DC -- it's a nationwide press screening this Wednesday. Every city in the country seems to be having one this Wednesday. I'm going to the one in Miami.
Whoo-hoo!
Brody, how did you get your tickets?
Brody... I am originally from Miami! :)
Did you speak to Jack? How did you get your invite if I might ask? I'm weary about this screening because my name was put on the list... but i hope I dont encounter any problems when I get there.
Jack swore I'd be on the list.

I'm the '...and guest' for a friend of mine who works at Ocean Drive magazine. We always go to these advance press screenings, so it's really no big deal. We never go with tickets -- we're always on 'the list', so that's standard, I guess. I do see people with tickets, but very few. Most of the people there have to 'checkin', so to speak.
Cool! Ocean Drive... good magazine. Well Friday I got an email from Jack saying there would be an advanced screening taking place this wednesday. I gave him all my info and he called me to confirm that I was "On the list" for D.C.... plus a guest.
I hope its legit! I'm pretty sure it is because I've heard about the screenings taking place all accross the country. i just hope I dont show up and get turned away.

Me too.
I have a friend/co-worker who is an on-line film critic and she invited me.
Dreamgirls is my favorite musical of all time.
I saw it in NYC in August of 1983. It was the original Broadway cast - minus Jennifer Holiday. I saw Holiday's replacement's understudy - who was awful.
I eventually saw Holiday in Dreamgirls at Starlight Theatre in Kansas City, MO in the 1990s when she toured with a revival of the Broadway production.
I can't wait till Wednesday night!
Anybody want to take me to one in Ohio? haha
haha... well I have never seen the show. i just know the basic premise of it. but the phenomenal cast (minus Beyonce... no offense to anyone... i like her, shes beautiful and talented... but she just cant act!) really intrigues me.
plus I heard Jennifer Hudsons rendition of AIATY and i was floored.

I'll be in Chicago on Wednesday.
Was invited via Jack as well.
Any other Windy City residents going feel like meeting up at the screening? Let me know...
CHRIS
Anyone suddenly can't go to the Chicago screening... well I'm totally available... haha...
Will pay big bucks LOL...
I'm kidding... I think...
Shutting up now...
BTW my film critic friend tells me that Chicagoan, Jennifer Hudson will be doing a Q&A after the Chicago advance screening.

Unfortunately, unless you are a member of the press or were invited to the show, you cannot attend the screening since only names on their list will be allowed inside. There are other opportunities to see an advanced screening of Dreamgirls and a link to this list of screenings is available in the Dreamgirls blog.
My film critic friend was surprised in the email invite that she was able to bring a guest. I guess most of the advance screenings she attends are for reviewers only. Lucky for me...
i was surprised (and EXTREMELY grateful) that I got an invitation, plus the chance to bring a guest, because i have no affiliation to the press at all.
just a fan
a 'fan' of a show you've never seen?
How is this possible?
I guess that qualifies me to say I'm a HUGE fan of the musical LEGALLY BLONDE because 'I know the premise' of the story.
well i've never seen the show because it stopped playing when I was a kid.. but i have seen many videos clips of the OBC. I also have heard the full soundtrack and know the storyline pretty well.
I'm just excited to see the film version of the show since I never got to see the show itself.
I get to see it today (tuesday) and can not wait! (Los Angeles)
