Just wondering if people have been lining up earlier for the SRO spots since the suspension of student rush. I know that some people just don't want to stand, and it'd be harder for the scalpers to make as much money off of these spots, but I can imagine there'd be at least a slight change.
I know this isn't applicable just yet, especially since there isn't even a performance today, but as the days/weeks etc. go on, it'd be great if people that go could keep us updated. I'll be in the city sometime near the end of July and am planning on trying for SRO. Thanks!
I went on Wednesday for the Evening show. I got in line at 4pm to be safe. I was second in line. The person before me got there at 3pm.
But the line did not fill at all. Everyone who showed up got tickets. And there were only 9 tickets that night. There was a couple that came over at 4:45 and they asked about Standing Room tickets and we told them if they want them they should get in line because it will probably fill once all other shows get out. They wanted to try the Hairspray lotto, they didnt get it and strolled back over to the line at 5:50 and still got tickets.
Me and the other person who was first were a little upset we were there so long and others showed up 10 minutes before and got tickets. But the show was alot of fun and worth it.
So are you saying only 4 people total showed up before the tickets went on sale? Wow, I thought it'd be more for an evening show during the summer. Thanks for the update, and glad you liked the show! Updated On: 6/30/07 at 01:01 PM
I tried for the 2pm matinee on Friday (due to the 4th) and it was sold out by 10:00 someone told me. So weekends are still selling out atleast an hour or so before hand. And this was for a show a not normal show time that I would think many people would not know of.
So yesterday after the LB matinee I very randomly decided to walk by the theatre and see what the SRO was like and turns out I was 7th in line, for nine tickets, at 4:30ish. Today I went again and was first in line (early) and the second person didn't show up until a little before 10.
Get there between 9-10:30 if you're going on a sunday and you should be fine.I did SRO on a saturday and got there around 4:30 after my matinee and got a ticket.
I did SRO last Weds (7/1. We were really nervous so we got there at 2:15ish for the evening show. 2 more people showed up at 3:30. But by 4:00-4:15 the 10 tickets were gone.
Hope this helps. The SRO are very nice tickets for $26.50. August Wilson is a pretty intimate theater. Your view is blocked for any scenes on the catwalk or any of the screens. I thought they were still great tickets. Especially since you need to buy tix months in advance (especially since Christian Hoff may be leaving and JLY contract is set to end in October sometime).
so, if I want to get an SRO ticket for this Saturday matinee, the tickets would go onsale at 12. What time would I need to get to the box office and wait in line? about 9:30 or 10?
thanks :)

"Actually, JLY extended about six weeks - his contract is up in November. But after that, he's definitely gone"
What? Not really, he extended six more months when his contract was up in April...so that is why he is there until sometime in November, no exact date actually.
Also, he is not DEFINITELY gone after that. Unless you know something he is not telling his fans. He could extend again...no one really knows for sure. Same goes for Christina, Bobby and Daniel, all of their contracts were for a year in October, but they could also extend. Updated On: 8/20/07 at 04:58 PM
sorry guys, I just need to know sometime soon so I can make plans for that day and such, but yeah, thank you
