Now, no.
In a few years, yes.

I don't find anything feminine in the song: unless accepting a change and reflecting on your life is only done by women.

I think the main problem I'm finding with the song is that it is hugely overdone by females. Oh well

I think it's just a bad audition song. Period.

Well, there is a version with a key for males in the Alan Menken songbook.
That key is in D, then modulates to F.
The original is in A, then modulates to C.

I'm a baritone, and I had NO trouble singing it in the original key when I did it for a concert last May. I sounded damn good on it too.

I just think there are enough good songs written originally for guys, Auditioners expect a lot if you decide to do a song usually sung by the other gender. I mean, if you skipped the whole anthology for your voice to pick just one song, it better be good.

I always thought the song was about getting your first
"well. you know"... becoming a "woman".

If you've had a sex change operation, then it could really have some meaning.

I don't know, nothing against you, But i can't stand when people audition with songs that aren't sex appropriate. And then my mind wonders and then i realize i didn't pay attention to any of their audition.

I have been dying to sing it. I have a higher tenor voice and I tried Ashley's key from On The record. It din't work, but my friend sang it lower and it worked fine.

I love that song, but not with Toni.

Husk,
Which "original" did you sing?
A to C, or D to F? re: 'A Change in Me' for a Boy - Audition Song??

I don't WANT to live in what they call "a certain way." In the first place I'd be no good at it and besides that I don't want to be identified with any one class of people. I want to live every whichway, among all kinds---and know them---and understand them---and love them---THAT's what I want! - Philip Barry (Holiday)

I would say avoid using female songs for men. First of all, it's really distracting (okay, I'm only referring to online video stuff) and secondly, it can throw people off.

Only if he sings it with a Peter Brady crack every 8 bars or so.
