Hurry back, James! In the meantime, I'll have to get a ticket to see Cheyenne.

Yes-I heard that there would be an Original Broadway Cast Recording of Xanadu and theyll be heading to the recording studio after the opening night (7/10) which is probably this month (per somebody from the Helen Hayes)
I would assumed that Cheyenne Jackson will be Sonny Mallone for the following obvious reasons.
1. Cheyenne will be Sonny for the next 4 months (per Newsday mag article)in which the OBCR would likely be recorded by then.
2. Cheyenne is a part of the Original Broadway Cast hence he will open tommorrow so most likely he would be in the OBCR (as the acronym suggest)
Cheyenne is considered an understudy. The posters haven't changes, there are no pics of Cheyenne outside the theatre, and the "outage" board has "The Role Played by James C. will be played by Cheyenne J." I would bet anything that James will be on the CD and not Cheyenne.
That said, I saw the show last night and all I can say is that I want to live in Cheyenne's armpits. So glad he goes sleaveless as compared to James. I had the good forture to sit on the stage in the center, so I got a good 10 minutes of staring at Cheyenne's ass as he sat doggie-style "drawing" the Muses on the stage floor right before the show started.
I was completely distracted by him throughout the show.
SPOILER ALERT**
Can I volunteer to be the one to remove his sneakers and put his skates on for him when he is in the phone booth??

I really would love to hear Cheyenne on the Xanadu recording.
I kept asking everyone I could at the theater for an answer to the question of whether Cheyenne or James would be on the recording, nobody knew.
I think the idea someone else posted earlier- Have them both record it and then sell both. Let the audience chose. Or sell one through Cheyenne's run then switch when James returns.
"Anybody that goes to the theater, I think we’re all misfits, so we ended up on stage or in the audience.” --- Patti LuPone.
Cheyenne is very respectful to James and still says he is playing his role, therefore I think James will and should record the CD, after all he rehearsed the entire time and worked very hard.

Good point, WickedGeek. I'd still love to hear Cheyenne on the recording.

baddadnpa, I never know where to look when he comes out pre-show. I see half the audience stop and stare, but do they notice me if I'm staring too? So I stare, look away, stare, look away...
I do have to say, the show has been very kind towards the Carpinello situation. I'm sure most of us are over the if/when of him ever returning, so it's very generous they're still considering him the lead in the show. The only thing that stinks (aside from him not being on the OBCR) is that presumably, Cheyenne will never get a shot at a Tony nod, because he's not techically in the role.
"Hey little girls, look at all the men in shiny shirts and no wives!" - Jackie Hoffman, Xanadu, 19 Feb 2008
baddadnpa - what did the girl in your section drop by accident that rolled down the ramp? Did you see it? I was a little concerned that Kerry wouldn't see it and have an accident!
part of me wants to tell Carpinello to let Cheyenne officially open the show, and he'll be the replacement. but we know Cheyenne is too much of a gentleman to accept the offer, or even mention if that was option...*le sigh*

Was it during the 7th's evening performance? Because the girl near me dropped her glow stick towards the end.
