Interesting point, Princeton. In the movie she transforms before your eyes. I'm not saying that the musical has to follow the movie in every aspect, but it would be great if they could do it that way, a la The Witch in Into the Woods.

OK, now I MUST see this show.

Sutton and Kecia as Fiona and Dragon will be amazing.

I am still kind of against the idea but the cast is getting me excited.

"Broadway-The Theme Park
Sad."

Why are people so pessimistic about the show...it doesn't even open for another 9 months on Broadway.

While I still don't see any reason why Shrek had to become a muscial, the cast so far looks excellent. I just hope it doesn't end up looking like a kiddie show you'd see at Universal Studios or something.

I do wonder how they're going to handle the transformations.

In the movie, they made fun of Beauty and the Beast with Fiona's transformation by taking it directly from the movie where the beast transforms back into a prince. It'd be funny if they carried this over to the Broadway production by copying the transformation effect used in the Beauty and the Beast musical.

Ever since this show was announced I thought it would be perfect if instead of being like the film, it poked fun at all the Disney shows on Broadway. I think that'd make it pretty unique and fun, I think it's the only way the show could be fresh instead of a movie recap.

Kecia Lewis-Evans? So we can assume that the dragon will have dialogue, never mind a musical number.

If the idea about mocking Disney on Broadway is right, I'd expect Dragon and Donkey to have Lion King-like costumes; or maybe Dragon will be on rollerblades!!

Although I never saw the Shrek movie, I too am getting exited about this show because of the cast, and Jeanine Tesori as well. Hey, it's 3 Millie alums at once!
Let's see, Nov 8, that's a Saturday. Can't wait!

And as for that comment on how Sutton can only act "ditzy", well she's as fine a comedic actress there is these days. Adorable and sweet to boot!

My point is, she keeps taking the same roles. It's getting old to me. Whatever, this might be surprisingly good.
