I have no idea? Yeah- the Playbill that I got has a leaftlet of Tory Ross as Hackett Face. Yup. I saw the show yesterday 5/18 3 pm matinee-burnsy & brettystar can attest to that!
Thanks Jay for another great review with the best pictures ever I'm so glad you finally went to see it for yourself. I personally really enjoyed the show.

Another fantastic review, jay ! And I'm glad we once again agree, more or less ! Though, I have to say it brought back painful memories, since it was one of my most unfortunate experiences in a theater ! The choreography, Spencer, Ali, Christopher and Carly are wonderful, but what can they do with no score, no book, no direction and a lead that comes BLAND, even in the pictures with you ! I went with low expectations and I was still dissapointed. And of course, this is only my opinion, I'm glad there are people who like it, because the talented cast deserves that. But NO, nobody can convince me that it deserved a Best Musical nomination over Catered Affair or EVEN Young Frankenstein
I'm totally on the ball with this show. I have no idea whether or not I want to see it. Something tells me I should just go see it and be surprised, but most of the reviews I hear from people I know who saw it are negative.
But, seriously, that cast. Woof.
Chris, Marty, Spencer, AND Jay on one page. Too much for a guy to take, nah'msayin'?
Yeah~I dont know what happened to the juicy HX page...it was probably deemed as inappropriate. Well at least my whole thread was not deleted- thanks mod! just those inappropriate photos...
but for those who missed.. here's the link to...
Ooooooh, Baby! HX Magazine swimsuit edition graced by :
Travis- Thank you for the nice compliment! and pls do go see the show, you might like it.

Panos- Yes! I am like you.. I enjoyed some aspects of the show, but overall~ as a musical..I thought it was not that great! You know when I saw the show ..I was with two guys who like the show a lot..I did explain it to them as to why? and they explained me as to why they like it...and I guess..people have different taste.
My major complain is the book~I thought they lost some of the John Waters' oddities in the movie like:
1. drinking tears from the glass... ew! but soo John Waters.
2. Hackett face having surgery to be beautiful at the end. The movie is more true~ to the character- like when she rescued Cry-Baby..she burst out of the movie screen and every inmate yelled...bec. they saw her f** up face..its so funny! like she said..she has character! The musical is just an actress with over the top make up and she keeps yelling like --Upper A**!
Also Cry-Baby's character- you cant really feel sympathy towards him, in the musical...unlike Hairspray-where you have this overweight girl who does not care what everyone thinks about her...you can really feel for the character. The movie Cry-baby was good bec. of Johnny Depp, and also Allison's transformation into a bad character- she was just basically removing her clothes~from 50's ballroom gown to sexy undergarments- what an awful idea! unlike Amy Locane in the movie- there's something WILD about her,,,you know she is clean cut, but really bad inside. Unfortunately I did not feel the same way with Elizabeth Stanley-btw she is very pretty in person. I just see her as a pretty face that cannot really be bad at all. I was not convinced at all.
Great review jay! But I just wanna say: The name is HATCHET-FACE, not Hackett Face! Sorry, it was just bothering me.

Jay*, many thanks for your continuing 10/10 reports. I always look forward to them. They're wonderful because you always report on the full theatre experience.
Thanks Jay - that's an excellent review and thread.
I picked up a couple of copies of HX today - so excited!
It was great to meet you and Burnsy after the show on Sunday.
Shesamarshmallow - I saw the show on Saturday and when I asked Tory Ross to sign my playbill (I always get them to sign their pics) she was kind of put out that the playbill has not been iupdated and that she was still in the ensemble pages. To quote she said "Haven't they updated this yet..... Oh my God!"
But if you read the article it says something to the effect, sorry stage door gay johnnies, James Snyder has a girlfriend in CA. Guess it was written before the reviews and threads came out and we don't care at all about him, but the dancers make us drool. Updated On: 5/20/08 at 11:08 PM
"So, Jay, are you going to the theatre to see cute boys or to see a show? If it's the former, rent a porn dvd.......ha, ha.... Let's focus.......ha, ha...."
So you and your bf ...wouldnt be into having a tryst with James Snyder at the Montage jon??.... :)
casualtyofLOve- I think I saw you too..were you the one with a bunch of girls at the stage door? you should have said "hi" to us..
To everyone- thanks for all your responses and inputs. Actually I will have 2-3 more reports (IN THE HEIGHTS, BOEING-BOEING and a suprised musical? ) then my 10/10 will wrap up-just in time for the TONYS and for my grand finale report! I will take a break this Summer.
and to all the fans of the CRY-BABY's chorus boys...make sure you grab a copy of HX & OUT magazines.
I just purchased a ticket for the July 4th show. I got a great seat in the second row of the center orchestra. It's the only best musical nominee that I haven't seen.
