Its so hard to keep track, so can people help make a list of all the shows that have closed since the Tonys this year?
I'm also curious to trying to figure out what theaters are going to sit dark and what is going in where (for example-Curtains and A Tale of Two Cities both closed since the Tonys and Hair is going into the Hirschfeld.)
And with all the shows closing in Jan.-maybe some closing dates with shows too?
Thanks gang.

www.ibdb.com should have all your answers. Just search 2007-2008; 2008-2009.

Read it and be informed...
I also teach and my kids are curious as to the subject. It seems to be the only part of the economic mess that they are interested in.

Yankeefan-thanks. I didn't know that option was available on IBDB.
Broadway is gonna be like a ghost town come January.
I know not literally but its just amazing how many shows have closed this season, especially the ones that have been somewhat long running!

...very scary...but I feel the tide is turning come the new year;I'm hopeful
Just too bad a lot of those shows did not get their run's worth for the Tony nods.

Im sure this is a dumb question, but have there ever been this many empty theaters at one time on Broadway?
I mean, come February the Belasco, Booth, Broadhurst, Circle in the Square, Hilton, Jacobs, O'Neill, Shubert, and Walter Kerr theaters will all be empty- not to mention the Longacre which will probably be empty after the holidays, and the St James which will be empty March 1st the latest.
I know some smaller plays will be filling some of these houses, but I cant remmeber a time when this many prime theaters were just empty and quiet.
I wonder if this will make it even harder to get good seats for the really good shows that remain or if the economy will keep people away from them too?

Well, it's safe to assume that these theatres won't all be dark for long. There are lots of new productions looking for houses.
Mary Stuart is going into the Broadhurst and Blithe Spririt has the Shubert.

...not dumb at all, Ole Chum. With the tide of closings, you wonder, really =I
There's an email making the rounds about all the stores that are closing in this area, too, due to this awful economy. I wonder how George W. Bush can sleep at night with all the wretched things that happened on his watch.
Isn't Gypsy closing March 1st also?
