That's ok. Guess I'm not destined to be a casting director anytime soon!

I wonder why no one has mentioned Alice reprising her role. She's no star outisde of Broadway, but if they surround her by more famous people it could work. I'm sure she'd get buzz around Oscar season and could possibly join the legue of people who've won a Tony and Oscar for the same performance.

Diana- Alice Ripley, Toni Collette (though I agree about Tara)
Dan- I'd love to see Patrick Wilson, but George Clooney?
Gabe- Zac Efron
Natalie- options kinda limitless
Dr. Madden/Dr. Fine- Jim Carrey or Neil Patrick Harris for either, or either cut or expand Dr. Fine's role
Henry- Skylar Astin (he's got Hamlet 2 behind his name)

You're reminding me of people you hear at the movies asking questions every ten seconds, "Who is that? Why is that guy walking down the street? Who's that lady coming up to him? Uh-oh, why did that car go by? Why is it so dark in this theater?" - FindingNamo on strummergirl

"If artists were machines, then I'm just a different kind of machine...I'd probably be a toaster. Actually, I'd be a toaster oven because they're more versatile. And I like making grilled cheese" -Regina Spektor

"That's, like, twelve shows! ...Or seven." -Crazy SA Fangirl

"They say that just being relaxed is the most important thing [in acting]. I take that to another level, I think kinda like yawning and...like being partially asleep onstage is also good, but whatever." - Sherie Rene Scott

I think after Rent they aren't gonna have broadway actors reprise their roles. For such a massive role they definitely wouldn't cast a broadway actress.

Henry- Skylar Astin (he's got Hamlet 2 behind his name)

That irritating Indie movie? I don't think he would count as a 'name'.

I think Clooney and Daniel Day Lewis would make great Dr. Madden/Fines...it would especially contrast the difference between the two.

I also agree with everyone who has said Toni Collette for Diana, frankly, if she were to do any type of musical- stage or movie- I would be happy

no zac effron please. not that i hate him or anything, i'm not one of those. i just think he seems like too much of a goodie two shoes. the role should be played almost like a villain at some points like aaron did. i'n my opinion it works best like that.

Regina - Kristen Bell

I actually quite like those Rock of Ages choices... Except for one... Zac Effron as Franz? Normally i wouldn't mind, but after seeing Wesley Taylor play it, I would be disappointed with anything less than amazing, and i just don't know if he could (or would want to *he's going for something more serious, remember?*) pull of such a goofy role.

And Kristen Bell's voice doesn't really seem rock enough for this show... LOVE the idea of her in Wicked or something more... sweet and bubbly, but she's not a rockstar (unless she gets cast and totally suprises me, in which case i'll eat my words)

I LOVE James Marsden for Stacee Jaxx!! He's freaking dreamy.

Also, where have we heard that there is actually going to be a rock of ages movie made?

springawoken819, New Line has the rights. I believe the shows book writer, Chris D'Arienzo, attached to direct. Patrick Wilson was apparently offered the role of Stacee Jaxx.

How about Lucas Grabeel as Franz?

My Thoughts on the Rock of Ages Movie Cast- I pretty much agree with JP except for a few.
Drew - Constantine Maroulis (We know he can sing it and he is a "name")
Sherrie - Kristen Bell/ Hillary Duff (my preference is towards the former)
Justice - Michelle Maise (she has played Justice in EVERY production and if D'Arienzo is directing I doubt that'll change)
Franz - Jake Gyllenhaall
Regina- Katy Perry? Fergie? someone of that nature.

I could see Brittany Murphy in RoA.

Hillary Duff? That would turn off ROA's audience BIG time.

all that jazz- I was trying to think of someone who could sing the role and would look good in stripper attire.

Now for some OTHER musicals:

Billy Elliot (A remake ala Hairspray or Producers):
Billy-(This would be some unknown actor most definately, though if anyone deserves it from Broadway, my vote is for Trent)
Dad-Robbie Coltrane
Grandma-Elaine Stritch or Maggie Smith
Brother-Daniel Radcliffe
Mrs. Wilkinson-Meryl Streep

Also, the cast list posted for 9 to 5: PERFECT! Kristin, Kathy, and Alec: PERFECT!

Next to Normal:

I would not want to see Meryl's Mrs. Wilkinson. She's all wrong for the role.

Lucas Gabreel as Gabe?

He actually has the acting chops, singing ability, credits to pull it off. His HSM fame wouldn't hurt either...plus he doesn't look too dissimilar to Aaron :)

I like the idea of Kate Winslet, but her singing voice is too soft I think. Bringing in a major star for the role would be fantastic because I imagine the film being difficult to sell...

Lucas Gabreel as Franz would be perfect.

For the 'In The Heights' movie I would like to see Jennifer Lopez play Daniela. Somebody told me she was being linked to the movie and I think that would be the perfect role for her. For some reason I see Mario Lopez playing Usnavi. I would think they would want to get somebody who is a "big name" in the lead role. However, I think Usnavi should be played by somebody more lanky and 'corny'.

This doesn't exactly apply to this thread, but I've been thinking about a film version of Hair (one that actually sticks to the original):

Claude - CHASE CRAWFORD
Berger - ZACHARY QUINTO
Sheila - JESSICA BIEL
Jeannie - BIJOU PHILLIPS
Crissy - AMANDA SEYFRIED Updated On: 6/21/09 at 11:22 PM

Well, he got by fine in Spring Awakening with his vocals; plus, with those magic studio buttons, I'm sure he'll sound great.
