Every one of Trump's malinformed minions is going to be asked for his or her take on Trump's response to the Khans. I imagine their staffs are on overdrive trying to come up with some plausible support for the worthless and seemingly psychotic drivel that pours from his mouth.
His comments about the Khans is one of those stories that seems to have "legs," as they say.
How wonderful will it be if the Muslim-American parents of a slain US soldier prove to be his undoing?
Seriously, when Clinton & Kaine win, Terry McAuliffe should consider appointing Khizr Khan to Kaine's senate seat.
The first numbers I've seen from polling taken completely after both conventions show good results for Clinton, and it's entirely possible for these number to trend positively. She has gotten a bump in the polls, but also her likability numbers are up, where Trump's are unchanged.

Yes - in particular, with my sister. When I found out she supported Trump, which was during the nomination process, we were at a restaurant for a family dinner. A family-wide argument developed; I lost my cool and ended up storming out in a huff. Fortunately, it's the type of family where that happens from time to time when politics are discussed, so no one really gave it a second thought after that night. :)
Anyhow, we've mostly ignored the issue since then. I just focus on all the ways I know my sister to be a wonderful person and that helps me keep my mouth shut about it.
The most vexing part of it is that she's a very well-informed and intelligent person, which calls into question my overall perception of Trump fans as low-information, low-education idiots.
MadBrian--I love that one of the poll questions asked about a link to Hillary and Lucifer.
Is anybody else having strained relations with friends and family who are Trump supporters?
My sister-in-law sent me a link to a Youtube video exposing all of the horrible things Hillary has done and begged me to watch it. She is well educated and very successful doing database for the banking industry. I pointed out that while I might have liked someone less polarizing than Hillary to rep the Dems, Trump's antics are the antithesis of how I think a president should act. She was stunned as she thinks he's fabulous and I should stop watching the wrong news stations.

If you actually look at the demographics, that was his base at the start of the primaries. By March, however, it had become quite diverse. Many of his supporters now include middle-to-high income college graduates.
While he's certainly picked up support among the group I refer to as the "frat boys," the bulk of his support is still coming from those without a college degree- he trounces Hillary among whites with no college degree.

I've been able to move a Facebook friend from Trump to Johnson. If you can't get them to Clinton, next best thing is to get them off Trump. Good folks can be persuaded. Focus on SCOTUS.
Okay, once you can acknowledge that no one candidate is perfect, you still must understand that picking and choosing the things you like about them, is the antithesis of being of sound judgement. It's sad to see friends and family using that argument. You can't say Hitler was kind to Sonja Henie and some of the Jews without finishing the rest of that thought.
The way that Trump has gotten to where he is, is only by following the rules and laws that he likes or that help him. He thinks that's the way life is (as long as you are allowed to get away with it).
The way he has replied to the Khan's remarks let alone Ghazala Khan's loss, show he is not even morally capable of basic human decency.

I hope this will send him back to his gold and ivory tower still chanting, "We Shall Over-Comb"...
Nude photos of Melania can only help the Trump campaign.
PJ, I am fighting Jill Steinery in a way that makes me think you should pay me.
On the issues, Stein is close to the Dem platform. As far as I can tell, she never released her tax returns in 2012, and hasn't released any so far this year. Thatt could turn off some folks.
Reading Mrs Kahn's response to Trump is heartbreaking. He picked the wrong couple to mess with. There's no way he's going to escape this one unscathed.
Programming note: the Khans will be on Morning Joe around 8:30AM (eastern).

"It amazes me how Americans are so shocked by the naked body but not by violence. Years ago the First Lady of France Carla Bruni had a whole career of pictures like that and no one blink an eye.

Mr. Trump,
We are all Gold Star Families, who have lost those we love the most in war. Ours is a sacrifice you will never know. Ours is a sacrifice we would never want you to know.
Your recent comments regarding the Khan family were repugnant, and personally offensive to us. When you question a mother's pain, by implying that her religion, not her grief, kept her from addressing an arena of people, you are attacking us. When you say your job building buildings is akin to our sacrifice, you are attacking our sacrifice.
You are not just attacking us, you are cheapening the sacrifice made by those we lost.
You are minimizing the risk our service members make for all of us.
This goes beyond politics. It is about a sense of decency. That kind decency you mock as "political correctness."
We feel we must speak out and demand you apologize to the Khans, to all Gold Star families, and to all Americans for your offensive, and frankly anti-American, comments.
We hope you will hear us.

McCain's statement was also great. Republicans should be ashamed of Trump.
Is it unrealistic and too hopeful to entertain the thought that this could cause Trump to drop out? Or be un-nominated? That's probably not a thing, but I wish it was. Probably too much to even hope that he ever truly admits he was 100% wrong. What a j4ck4$$.
I do not believe there is a process to 'un-nominate' someone, not is there precedent for a presidential candidate to withdraw post-convention. For a withdrawal, the party's national committee would choose a replacement., I think. In other words, Pence would not automatically become the nominee.
Will Ryan of McConnell ever grow a pair and rejoice him? Or will we continue to follow the same pattern of Trump saying something dumb, Ryan and McConnell condemn the statement, but say they still support him, Ryan and McConnell state they believe he has "learned from this", and....repeat?

Beyond the pale. Trump's surrogates are now disparaging Mr. Khan as an agent of the Muslim Brotherhood. The details are readily available on various websites, but I am choosing not to provide a link.
