Stupid Henry, leaving with his girlfriend. How dare he.
"i got violently angry when that butthead hit our Betty!!!! "
Me too. I love Betty!
I think it is a placebo of sugar possibly. I'm not exactly sure what the flashing forward meant.
Henry ♥ Betty NOT Charlie. I don't like Charlie, she's annoying and kinda rude.
I think next week's episode looks hysterical: Betty + Hilda + Mexico = HYSTERICAL.

i'm all cryin from that scene with Betty & her grandmother!!!!!!
OH! Kristin Chenoweth is going to be on next weeks episode. So many Broadway actors on this show. Patti LuPone, Jesse Tyler Furgeson, Kristin Chenoweth, Rita Moreno...
And may I just say...I don't think those pills are placebos.
I am in love with Ugly Betty!!
great episode!
funniest line:
"Daniel, I'm on the plane. Thank you so much for the tickets! First Class totally rocks! I tried lobster, and I watched Wild Hogs. I think John Travolta is better on a plane."
Great episode? I thought it was one of the worst.

The problem that I had with last night's episode is Betty and Hilda's knowledge of Spanish. In one scene, they act like they don't know it. Then Hilda translates the message from the prophetess. Then Betty can understand the woman in the blue house. We as an audience don't get subtitles for the prophetess but do for the old lady in the blue house.
Another problem I have is logistical. Hilda is getting a foot massage from the waiter, Betty & Ignacio are at the blue house. Where is Justin? They drag him all the way to Mexico to sit around with the drunk aunt? I think the writers should have had him throw a fit about West Side Story and had Santos take him. It would have been a much more interesting side story for him to live with Santos for a week.
Gotham, you made a lot of great points. I didn't even see Justin on the airplane!! Last nights episode was very choppy and to me was definitely the worst one of the season.
I agree, one of the worst episodes of the season so far with some interesting moments.
Needless to say, as a Hispanic person myself--not Mexican--I found the episode a bit racist. I usually enjoy the show's satire but last night I think they crossed the line between satire and making fun of the actual object. Perhaps I'm taking myself a bit too seriously
Rita Moreno and Justine Machado were insanely underused, usually when they have guest stars they give them great material. Moreno at least was a bit funny but Machado's character could've been played by an extra.
I had MAJOR issues with the inconsistency with the accents in Spanish. Hilda spoke with a Caribbean accent (Puerto Rican or Cuban), Machado with a Colombian accent, and finally that Antonio guy had a Mexican accent thank God.
Also, if Betty's dad is from Mexico he'd obviously would've spoken in Spanish with his sister, not in English. There were too many inconsistencies and it was way too white-washed.
Oh, and are they writing Ignacio, Betty's dad, off the show?
So the season finale is next week already? That makes me sad.

i guess im not judging it as a show or "entertainment" anymore; now i think of it as checking in on friends & family.

This is really weird, I watched two of the last three on the computer the next day.
The first time I was looking at refrigerators and the show was sponsored by Sears refrigerators. Today I was looking at LCD HD televisions and it was sponsored by HD televisions. Are they reading my mind?
The new issue of Entertainment Weekly has a cute quote from Mark Indelicato (Justin), who’s apparently recording a pop CD:
Since the actor has a musical theater background, will the album feature any Justin-approved show tunes? “Unfortunately,” he explains, “those will not sell to today’s kids.”
From Watch with Kristin's blog:
"Mark Indelicato from Ugly Betty (love him!) takes the stage in a little tux and top hat to sing "One Singular Sensation." Now, Becki Newton and Michael Urie...and holy crap they all can sing and dance—like gangbustahs! Seriously, Broadway quality! I can't wait for Ugly Betty: The Musical! Miss America is now out on stage in a purple evening gown doing high kicks. And now Christopher Gorham and high kicks and oh my...Why can't you all be here?! I'm actually tearing up. Man, I'm lame. "

"East Side Story"
Betty and Henry's romance heats up. Meanwhile, Wilhelmina makes great strides in her ambitious power play, and Daniel descends further in a downward spiral. The Suarez family trip to Mexico takes a dangerous turn, as old ghosts create new problems. Explosive secrets will be revealed, and everything will be tied together by a beloved Broadway musical.
anyone see the clip for tonights espidoe?? Betty finally reveals her feelings to Henry!! it made me squeal!!

Actually, I thought that was realistic. I have many friends whose parents spoke another language, but never actually taught it to their children. So they *understood* it, but they didn't know enough to speak it for themselves. That's at the point I am with Spanish as well- I can understand what people are saying, but I don't have the ability to construct the sentences myself.
Where is Justin? They drag him all the way to Mexico to sit around with the drunk aunt?
Well, he IS doing West Side Story. He's better off with the drunk aunt.
