I kinda teared up a bit. West Side Story gets to me!

I'm in shock. That was not what I was expecting at all...and so it was so sad!
That was so amazing.
Best episode of the season.
So heart-wretching.
I teared up at the end.
Extremely great television.
Kristin Chenoweth was hilarious as the chic-flick obessed dential hegnist. Also, that was the original "Ugly Betty" from Columbia as the assisant.
Willy remembering all the good times with Marc was so fantastic.
Marc: Did you trade June 16th to get me back? :hugs:
Willy: Did you just hug me?
Marc: No of course not.
Also, Amanda being Fey's daughter was crazy. Next season will be extremely interesting with that fact. Amanda and Christina being stuck in the "love dungeon" was fantastic.
The scene between Alexis and Daniel was so great. You finally get a sense that they truly want to be a family. That ending to that scene was extremely shocking.
The last scene of this episode was the most beautifully directed and chorographed last scene of a season finale I have ever seen. Just hearing Justin and the young girl playing Maria singing over the action was extremely moving.
What a wonderful episode, I needed this, what with VERONICA MARS being cancelled, this made happier knowing I'll have my other favorite show back next season.
I think that may have been the premier TV episode for anyone who likes theatre. I mean you get Kristin Chenoweth, West Side Story, theatre politics and an extremely well-choreographed scene.
I wonder what my friend Betty (yes, that's her real name) who loves Ugly Betty but doesn't love theatre thinks of that scene. She's probably sitting at home very confused right now. I'd call her but Grey's Anatomy is on... must watch...
The intertwining of West Side Story and the plot of the episode was executed amazingly well. It gave me chills the whole time. And the fade out of Betty holding Hilda was very emotional. Love this show!

well, ya know im a sobbin mess.
If it werent for the Santos/Hilda story, I could have sworn I was watching a season cliffhanger for DYNASTY.
Anyone know the name/artist of the doo-wop song that played in tonights episode?
that episode was so intense.
a whole summer without Betty!
They better release those dvds soon.

I can't even begin to comprehend that episode. I was an absolute sobbing mess at the end. I think it's quite possible that I cried harder watching the end of Ugly Betty tonight than I ever have watching any TV show.
If in Heaven you don't excel, you can always party down in hell...
Haven't watched it yet. Will probably do so tomorrow. Love the show. I think it had moments of brilliance throughout the season and then some that didn't quite gel. But I do believe the show is starting to get its mojo full blast.
"But I do believe the show is starting to get its mojo full blast"
This episode is full on Betty mojo at it's best!
I hope you enjoy it, DAME.
I loved every minute of it.

I was slightly disappointed in last night's episode. It's better than it has been, but the ending relied on the brilliance of Leonard Bernstein, not on the brilliance of the acting. I think the writers were a bit lazy with the writing. America Ferrera and Ana Ortiz could have nailed the ending and carted home Emmys for it, but they weren't given the opportunity. All they were given was a tableaux.

I agree 100%. I think Ugly Betty has just edged out Grey's Anatomy as my favorite show ever.
Willy remembering all the good times with Marc was so fantastic.
Oh my God, I read this before it came on, and thought Marc was going to die. I got so sad.
All I can say is "wow" after watching last night's episode. It was a lot more dramatic than I expected. The only thing that didn't make sense was, if the Mode office is in NYC, why was Alexis driving out of the city to seek medical attention for Daniel?
Was that Vanessa Williams singing in the "Memories" montage?

It sounded like Vanessa to be, Billy.
I thought this episode was sensational.
pretty sure, yes.
Ugly Betty musical- its just around the corner... 'cmon producers.

I was wondering if they were trying to recreate the car driving through Central Park.
OR
Season 2 starts out with Betty waking up from a nightmare.
It would be funny if she actually did get some nitrice while at the Dentist and all of this was a dream . . .
Poor Santos - I was a little weepy at the end as well.

I think something is up. The ending was very different from the quirky (highly comic and theatrical) style of the show. Plus Kristin Chenoweth's character kept stressing to Betty that her life was like a movie.
Additionally, the Daniel and Alexis crash was very dreamlike at the end.
We never actually saw the gunman pull the trigger. Could the news have been about Ignacio?
I don't know about that. While Ugly Betty is a comedy and can be intentionally campy at times, I don't think that this is the kind of show that would cop out just to please an audience. Sure, we'd love for all of the horrible stuff to have been a dream, but it would completely undermine everything they were playing for in the last minutes of the finale.
Also, I was actually glad that they didn't show the actual conversation Betty had with Hilda at the end, I didn't think words were necessary.
Gothampc: Thats a great theory.
I'm not sure. Hm.
That'd be interesting, but wouldn't that be kind of like jippying the audience. They did report on E! that someone was going to die and I thought like you said, Ignacio would be the one to die. But I think, sadly, Santos is dead.

At least Henry's plane did not go down. And I thought there would be at least one bit from Mexico and Ignacio other than cooking tips on the phone.
My favorite line from last night: Cheno - "I should just shut up - a little of me goes a long way".
Oh - and Fabia's face! YIKES!
