Blake is Wonderful, to be sure.
Hey Sanjaya, go home.
Unless you plan on replacing some of your less-than-amusing brand of quirkiness with entertainment.

No, she wasn't the best one there and no, she had no chance of winning but seriously, how did Gina get kicked off?
I mean I really don't understand these people who are voting for Sanjaya...it was amusing at first but now it's ridiculous, unfunny, and extremely irritating that MUCH MUCH MUCH more talented people are getting kicked off before him. I mean, he wasn't even in the bottom 3. And it's not like he has some stellar personality or something...he's boring, annoying, and he can't sing. He doesn't even know how to work a stage. It's just...ridiculous.
Hayley, who is probably going to get axed in the coming weeks unless she really pulls it together, at least can give an entertaining performance. She may not be a phenomenal singer (I think she's still better than the judges give her credit for) but at least she can entertain and has sex appeal to spare. It's fun to watch her perform. It's painful to watch Sanjaya. He really needs to go ASAP. He's not getting any better...in fact, it seems to me like he's getting worse. That one week where everyone was talking about how great he was...was a joke. He sounded like crap. He was just louder than normal and people (including the judges) somehow equated that to being good.
And on top of that, the judges are beginning to really annoy me as well. I mean last night they kept saying that they werent even going to bother to mention Sanjaya's singing and they made stupid comments about him and I think Simon called him "incredible" (obviously sarcastically) which while mildly amusing on the whole is grating and irritating after contemplation because there are 7 other people with leaps and bounds more talent and this competition will make it or break it for some of them and to keep promoting Sanjaya's ascension through the competition is completely unfair to them.
That's all I have to say! LOL

Guess America just didn't go for the pierced tongue. Tottle-loo Gina. And Sanjaya still didn't make the bottom 3! And Blake didn't make it into the top 3. All you Blake fans had better start letting your fingers do the walkin’; otherwise he'll be beatboxin' outta there before you know it. And I can't believe Nosferatu wasn't sent packin'. Oh well... there's always next week.

That was such a sad send off.
and the song couldn't have been more poignant.
"Smile though heart is aching..."
-Adam Shankman.
"I haven't left this building since Windows 3.1!"
"Celebrating a birthday this week: Rene Descartes is 412! Do you know who he is? Then why are you watching this show? You could probably get into college and even get one of those job things. As for the rest of us; Amanda Bynes is 22! Yay!"
-E!'s "The Soup"

Melinda is the only person who is good enough to do this professionally, and she looks really old on screen. Sanjaya makes the show fun, and people realize that. Without him, the show would be supremely boring, and there would be no one to talk about "at the water cooler" if you know what i mean...

Am I the only one a little suspicious that the eliminations so far have been boy/girl/boy/girl? Maybe it's my conspiracy theory mind in overdrive.
That being said, I liked Gina, she was a local girl, adorable, talented and I'm sad she's gone. I never expected her to go all the way, but before Phil and Haley (and IMHO, Chris) is sad. Sanjaya is a sensation that defies logic. In a weird way, I'm loving him sticking around. I don't want him to ruin Melinda or Jordin's deserved win, but he IS really charming and I revel in his awfulness.

i was upset that Gina got off. I thought she was good, but I wasn't expecting it.
Do you guys still like LaKisha? I love LaKisha,Melinda, and Jordin too. Just want to make sure that there is love for Lakisha... lol
Btw I can't stand Sanjaya. Some friend showed me this website (I got really pissed when I read how they vote for the worst people and deleted it so I don't have the link) and it's saying how the American Idol tryouts are different than from what we see, and how really talented people are turned away.
In my opinion, why the hell would you still try to vote for the worst? There are still really talented people on the show.
Doesn't make sense to me.

While I really liked Gina, it was great television to have her sing "Smile" as tears ran down her face. If she hadn't been voted off this week, they would have had to send her home anyway to get this great scene.
And all you people who can't understand Sanjaya-mania, take a look at the coverage this morning. What is the story? NOT that GINA was sent home, but that SANJAYA wasn't. This kid is the story. He has generated more press and more interest than American Idol ever has. That is the mark of a star!

Read it and weep:
What If Sanjaya Wins?
With Sanjaya Malakar surviving another elimination round of American Idol, a website has popped up named ifsanjayawins.com, and other websites have joined in speculating what effect such a win for the personable but seemingly tone-deaf 17-tear-old singer could mean for television's most lucrative franchise. The gossip site TMZ reported Wednesday that executives of Sony BMG, which is obligated to release a CD of the winner are "really nervous" about a possible Sanjaya victory. "They now think Sanjaya could win the competition and worry that he's like the new Pet Rock -- the novelty will wear off and his records won't sell," the website said. (Record producers have long maintained, however, that talented recording engineers can turn even the most hopeless-sounding performer into a pop star -- and have.) Meanwhile, ratings for Idol have been slipping slightly in recent weeks, although they continue to remain higher than any show on television. Tuesday night's one-hour performance episode posted a 15.3 rating and a 25 share, while Wednesday night's results episode registered a 15.1/24.

It's fascinating that this is happening right after AI essentially got a run of good press and validation:
Jennifer Hudson wins the Academy Award, the Golden Globe, the SAG and most all film awards
Carrie Underwood wins Grammys, including New Artist and is multiplatinum
Kelly Clarkson wins Grammys and has a multiplatinum sophomore album
Chris Daughtry hits #1 on the Billboard more than once and is selling very well
Even Fantasia is having great success
And other contestants are selling well, proving that the show can be a great boost to a new career.
Could this one possible catastrophe undermine all of those bragging rights?
In the end, I DO think Sanjaya's days are numbered.
God I hope.

I agree. She is the ONLY contestant, in my opinion, who consistently gives inspired performances week after week.

Surprises from last night:
J-Lo was not a waste of space like Ms. Stefani a few weeks back.
Simon dont care for Melinda...in the same way that America dont care for jazz (Gawd, I miss Leslie Hunt!)
Blake made my panties moist.
Sanjaya was good!!
Discuss.

J-Lo was such a great mentor and worked well with all the kids and she actually gave them useful advice [Not like Diana Ross or Gwen Stefani]
I love Jordin Sparks. She's my favorite. She's got such an amazing voice and I love it.
Melinda, Lakisha, and Blake are my other favorites.
And Sanjaya NEEDS to go away. FOREVER.
