Oddly, I write with my right hand but I do everything else left handed. Including wearing my watch on my right hand, etc...

I am right handed ,but my brother is left handed. He was a child in the 60's and all his teachers tried to "convert" him. He was being tortured! He certainly isnt artistic as mentioned earlier in this thread. In fact, he is a research chemist for a pharmaceutical company.

Lefty here.

It sucks trying to write in three-ring notebooks. Also, you tend to smudge what you've just written with the "heel" of your hand.

Trying to cut with regular scissors sucks too.

The "lefties tend to be artistic" thing is a sort of myth. Lefties are more likely than righties to be right-brain dominant, which would make them better-suited to artistic activities, but most people, lefty or righty, don't favor one hemisphere much more than the other. And not all artists are right-brain dominant.

I've got good ambidextrous scissors- they're not that hard to find. I guess my elementary school was just too cheap to get them when I was a kid. :P Updated On: 11/8/04 at 08:15 PM

uh-oh!
I broke my left arm a while ago, and it wasn't easy. I can't write with my right hand at all, so I kept writing with my left, and it was barely legible because I couldn't move my fingers due to my cast. And people kept saying, "At least it's not your right arm!" Then I'd tell them that I was a lefty.

Don't you love that? People's reactions are so funny...people will stare at me in class and then go "Oh my God, you're left handed? I never realized that before! I'm so *sorry*!"

I of course am proud of it. Except when teachers take points for neatness cuz my writing's smudged.

I am pretty sure now that I am a lefty but I was broken of writing left handed at a very young age and now favor my right hand. I have taken those test that tell you which "quadrant of your brain you favor the most. I can't remember the results exactly but I always favor the rarer of the two right brain quadrants. I write right handed but I write my letters like I am left handed. It is strange.

except for in mini golf when they put a curb on the left side and not on the right and you have to stand on the curb to golf and you do worse.. lol

also, as for the left handed scissors thing sometimes i would be lucky and teachers would have nice left handed scissors, but normally i would get the icky metal ones with the rubber. furthermore, a few days ago i was trying to cut something and i couldn't and my friend made fun of me. i told her it was because they were righty scissors and she was like .. there's no difference!! it made me mad lol. i actually remember when i was younger and my mom would buy me left handed scissors to bring into school for myself.. haha.
