Okay, I went in with mixed expectations - I adore both Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, but I'd heard some less-than-encouraging news from people who'd seen preview screenings this week.

Good news: Baby Mama is hilarious. I'd give it a solid B; a B+ if it weren't for the ending - too 'Hollywood' to feel fulfulling. Tina is a bonafide Movie Star with two capital letters, she can definitely carry a film, and the comic chemistry between herself and Amy is fantastic. (Oh, and Denis O'Hare pops up near the beginning!)

Basically, if you're waffling about whether to see it in theaters or wait for the DVD, I'd recommend seeing it now. =)

I totally agree.
I loved the movie-but I didn't love the ending.

Really? It's that good? I love Tina Fey, but I was having some trouble finding the funny in the trailer.

The trailer feels a lot more sophomoric than the actual tone of the movie, which is actually pretty smart.

Steve Martin's character is a riot.

Excellent! I might check it out now. Thanks!

Steve Martin? I haven't seen him in any of the trailers.

My friends and I saw this movie tonight and loved it! I thought that was Steve Martin, but wasn't sure. I didn't catch Denis O'Hare... which part was he in?

It was funny, just not as funny as I hwas hoping for.

Maybe it was the old woman sitting next to me who kept talking through the film.

Normally I would have shh'd her, but she looked like she was ready to die.

What's the over/under on how many Baby Mama commercials we'll see on SNL tonight? Five?

Or maybe it was the old man sitting in your seat! You just might not be the film's target audience.

I saw this today and thoroughly enjoyed it. I totally agree with VonTussleGirl; the movie is a lot smarter than the trailers lead on, and Amy's character is a lot more grounded than she appears in the clips. And I can't get over how adorable Greg Kinnear is!

Also before the movie was the trailer for Mamma Mia! So excited about that one. Dominic Cooper is lookin' fine!

I agree with the critics who said had Fey written it herself, it would have been much wittier. But still, the charm of the two leading ladies is enough to keep any film going and there are a lot of genuine laughs to be had. It's hard to beat Poehler/Fey as a team.

Dude, I'm 40, and, judging from your picture, you are at least the same age, if not older.

I saw it today with nothing to do and I must say that I was pleasantly surprised. Really funny and it was a thrill to see Steve Martin again and in a good movie, no less.

I really liked this movie, it wasn't amazing by any means, but it was entertaining.
