I once had a good piece of toast with butter.
Yep, me too, Jane. What kind of bread?

The best was a piece that had strawberry jam on it.
If it's rye toast, it has to be strawberry. I prefer jelly over jam, though.

It was my grandma's homemade jam, and it was glorious.
I'm not a big fan of rye toast. Wheat toast is good. Good ol' white bread is definitely the best though.

White bread with peanut butter. Mmmmm....
girly-white.
We had a home ec teacher in our school (when there still WAS home ec). Well anyway, this woman was so lazy and inept that when we asked some of the 8th grade girls what they were learning how to cook, they said toast, and different things to put on it.

That's about all I did in Home Ec. No cooking, just washed the dishes and gossiped about other people.
Oh, immaturity...
If it's white bread, I'll put grape jelly or apple butter on it.

Rye Bread, please.
Is it weird that I actually do have a "best piece of toast"? It was at a little hole in the wall restaurant in Taos, NM. Homemade wheat bread, kind of thicker than a normal slice, so it was crunchy on the outside but the middle was still soft. Seriously a "memorable" piece of toast that went with a simple, yet all around excellent breakfast...I bought a loaf of bread for the road.
Rye = Disgusting.
Not that weird, Mabel. After having my appendix out when I was nine, that was the first food I was able to eat since getting sick several days earlier. Mine was just plain old white bread with a small dab of butter.
I prefer rye toast most of the time now.

oh, too many to count. When I was younger, my grandmother made me toast every morning for breakfast. It was lot sof butter and grape jelly, and she cut it into "soliders" like a lot of grandmother do for their grandkids. Then, a year or so ago, I tried it with peanut butter with honey drizzled on top and loved that. One day, we were out of peanut butter so I justed used regular butter and honey. Probably terrible for you, but it was dellicious. Now I'm kind of into butter and seedless black raspberry jam. Apple butter's great too. Favorite of all time is probably the butter and honey. And it HAS to be white bread. ALWAYS.
I love rye beard with butter. Soooo good.
I like toast with cinnamon sugar on it. Yummy!
All around the country and coast, coast.
People always ask what do you like most?
I don't wanna brag, I don't wanna boast,
I always tell them I like toast...
YEAH TOAST!!!!!!!
Rye = delicious. Especially grilled with muenster.
It was clearly a slow Friday night on the boards.
Down in Williamsburg Virginia, at the Williamsburg Inn. Toasted Sally Lunn bread with butter and homemade jam. It was so delicious that I immediately went looking for the recipe they used to make the bread and I've made it several times at home. It's always good but never quite as good as sitting in a beautiful restaurant at the inn and being served from silver trays by waiters in colonial costume.
Any toast I make using my homemade cinnamon sugar, sprinkled out of my antique Victorian glass cinnamon sugar shaker.
Oooh, I forgot about cinnamon sugar. When I was little and I was sick, my mother owuld always make me toast with butter and cinnamon sugar. It was always delicious.
When I used to get high, a friend and I met at the local diner and...
Hamburger and fries
side of spaghetti
mashed potatos
scrambled eggs and bacon
and two slices of the best white bread ever!!!!!!!
I just want to say that I think it's so sweet that people have posted sincerely in this thread. I originally started it to poke fun of the best waffle you ever had thread, but it's turned into a regular thread.
So....I used to buy raisin bread, toast it and spread butter or cream cheese on it. Now have a half bagel lightly toasted in the am with either butter, cream cheese, or hard cheese on it.
